MOTIVATION‘It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s that I just don’t care’
Why do you do
anything? Why do you feel drawn to some forms of work and
repelled by others?
A motive is something that moves you to
action.
Motivation suggests that something within you is at
WORK, impelling or driving you forwards!
Motivation is the sum of all that moves a person to
action.
Legal maxim: We must judge a person’s motives from their overt
actions!
For action to happen, a decision has to be made. Motives are not sufficient in themselves.
‘STICK-AND-CARROT’Motivation also extends to moving others to action.
The traditional ‘stick-and-carrot’ theory suggests
two ‘motives’ that we can apply - a reward or
incentive on one hand and fear of the consequences
on the other.
