PRESIDENT’S blog
Hello RCBSians,
The Corona Virus mentioned last month transformed into CORONA VIRUS rapidly and hit the entire humanity really hard. The words Existential Crisis gained a connotation that transcended Race / Region / Religion or Caste / Colour / Creed /
Language….!
We as a nation have held our own so far and hopefully shall continue to do so…!The lockdown period shall end… Some Day…! We @Rotary, as an organisation of International Repute and Standing have a much bigger, deeper and wider responsibility ahead, much beyond the material charity. We need to make extra efforts to ensure the Psychological as well as Physiological well being of the immediate environment around us. The situation post the Lockdown period may be far from peaceful, even
chaotic. We will have to step in and extend all the help (Material / Monetary / Manhours) required by the administration to maintain order and to prevent any major Breakdowns.
Signing off with the eternal hope for a better tomorrow….!!
Thanks & Regards,Rtn. SnehaRamani&Rtn. MilindGogateBulletin Editors, 2019-20
EDITOR’S note
Lockdown and social distances are new challenges for India and the entire world. But I am sure it will reduce the spreading of this virus. But these days are rare, and can be productive if wanted-
1. Change in personal habits to improve health and peace. Do yoga and meditation.
2. Spend quality family time and thoughtful discussions.
3. Time to change business management structure, do short & long term planning.
I suggest everyone to do whatever is effective to you and your family and keep it as a routine practice.
Apart from this, we need to now focus on our TRF contribution program. Many of us have given commitments to TRF, sending my best wishes and thanks to all of them.
Requesting others to contribute best possible and convenient to them. My humble request to all, and each one of you to contribute. Even a small token will be appreciated.
Stay home, stay safe.

Rotary’s role in battling Corona virus
Dear Fellow Rotarian,
The COVID-19 coronavirus is affecting every aspect of our lives in real time, and this puts Rotarians in an unfamiliar place. As People of Action, we are most comfortable when we are fully engaged in the world – moving freely, meeting openly, and offering helping hands. These are very difficult times for people who, like us, are at our best when we are learning, growing, and serving—together.
We are also leaders in our communities, and these times call for leadership. In many ways, this also is our time. We have proven abilities to reach out and collaborate to offer immediate help to people in need at a rapid pace. These are precisely the skills needed all over the world today. The global effort against COVID-19 depends on actions taken in every country. Rotary has the unique ability to help improve those efforts in every community and every country.
We know that clubs and districts are seizing the opportunity to become leaders in their communities and are making better use of technology in this time of need. For example, a Rotary e-club in Italy held a live online session about COVID-19 awareness, a Taiwan club worked with companies and a pharmacy association to donate 1,600 bottles of hand sanitizer to the city of Ji-Long, and Rotary clubs in Sri Lanka helped upgrade software and hardware for the health promotion bureau to assist its social messaging.
We are dealing with this situation in real time. Please visit the rotary.org COVID-19 response page for ongoing updates.
This is an opportunity for us to demonstrate that Rotary Connects the World in innovative ways. We should be closely following the advice of the WHO and local health authorities. Again, this includes canceling Rotary club events and meetings in the short term to reduce unnecessary interactions that could cause infections. We can put a greater emphasis on the work we do in our communities by helping our less fortunate neighbours cope with the effects of isolation and fear, or by supporting our health authorities to address this situation.
We have never been prouder to be part of an organisation that does so much to protect and strengthen our communities, at home and across the globe.
Kindest regards,

MIND FeedThe next outbreak? We’re not readyIf anything that kills over 10 million people in the next few decades, its most likely to be a highly infectious virus rather than a war.
Not missiles, but microbes! Earlier epidemics were a warning, wake up call for a future pandemic but still we are not ready. We’ve
invested a huge amount in nuclear deterrents but very little in systems to stop an epidemic.
1. Strengthen Health Systems - We need strong health systems in poor countries
2. Create a Medical Corps - We need lots of people who’ve got the training and background
3. Pair Medical & Military - Take advantage of military’s ability to move fast, do logistics and secure areas
4. Run Germ Games - We need to do simulations germ games to see where the holes are
5. Set Up Research & Development - We need lots of advanced R&D in areas of vaccines and diagnostics.
