BILL OF MATERIAL - Aluminium sheet (thickness 2mm) - Wood (teak) - Mortar (heat resistant COMPAKTUNA) - Gecko-pad

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

How many different tools are needed? - Mould - Spoon & bowl - Drill (Ø7) - Metal saw - Dremel - Wood rasp - Saw - Sandpaper - Glue Loctite super glue 3 - Sencys varnish How many parts are standard and bought? - Geckotape - Mortar mix - The metal sheet for above the stove

How many parts have been made tailored? - 1 = the metal sheet for Alains stove

2 DESCRIPTION Cut out of an aluminium sheet (2mm thickness) a rectangular shape with the dimensions showed on slide 20. Make 5-7 holes in it with a diameter 7mm. Important notice: leave 10mm free space at one side (as showed on the technical drawing).

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? See dia 20 What is the duration of action? 10 min. Which tools are used in this action? Cutter-knife, bore (+machine) Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost? Depending on the metal...(We used left-overs)

11

3 DESCRIPTION Place the little metal strip (with the empty space downwards, holes up) in the notch in the mould.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? No What is the duration of action? 3 sec. Which tools are used in this action? None

Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost? Nothing

12

4 DESCRIPTION Make the mortar. The proportion is: 25 kg dry material = 5l water. We used 0,5 kg dry material and 0,1l water. We used prepared heat resistant mortar (dry mix). Obviously, the proportion that has to be used, will depend on the mortar mix. Mix the dry material with the water to a smooth mixture. Pour the mortar into te mould. Make sure that the mortar goes through the holes in the metal strip. This has to be come a fixed connection. If necessary, use a trill-plate to remove air out of the mixture. Wait and let the mortar dry for 2 days at least.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? No What is the duration of action? 15 min + 2 days (minimum) Which tools are used in this action? A pot to mix the mortar in + spoon + mould

Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? 1 = the mortar How much does this action cost? +- € 25: mortar mix ( the whole package)

13

5 DESCRIPTION Draw the shape of the handle on the wood. Saw, grate and sandpaper the wood, untill the handle looks like the one on the picture below. Use the technical plan to achieve this. This plan is showed on slide 21.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? See dia 21 What is the duration of action? ½ day Which tools are used in this action? Saw, grater, sandpaper Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost. Again, the wood was a left-over.

14

6 DESCRIPTION Make a notch in the handle. Use a dremel for this operation. Keep a model strip of the one that is drying in the mortar close, to control the size of the notch. Again, use the technical plan on slide 21 to accomplish this step.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? See dia 21 What is the duration of action? ¼ day Which tools are used in this action? Dremel

Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost? Nothing

15

7

DESCRIPTION After the dry-time of the mortar, remove the shape from the mould (Be carefull!). Finish the shape with varnish and wait min. 4h. (when a second layer is applied, wait longer). Use some glue to connect the handle out of step 5 with this mortar product after the varnish is completely dry.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? No What is the duration of action? With a little luck, 5 min. + 4h dry time (apply a second varnishcoat if necessary)

Which tools are used in this action? Glue Loctite super glue 3 + Sencys varnish

Which parts are standard and bought? None How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost? Nothing

16

8

DESCRIPTION First, stick the Geckotape on the product without using glue. Draw the borders of the add-on on the Geckotape. Cut out the shape of the add-on from the Geckotape. Use some glue to connect the product reached in step 6 with the Geckotape..

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? No What is the duration of action? 45 min Which tools are used in this action? Glue Loctite super glue 3

Which parts are standard and bought? The Geckotape How many parts have been added? 1 = Geckotape How much does this action cost? Geckotape = +- € 10

Add-on use on a stove?

http://designforeveryone.howest.be/

19

9 DESCRIPTION Because of the specific design of Alains stove, we added this metal sheet. In this way the base for the pots is a level surface. This provides more space to position the add-ons.

KOOKHULP ‘Alain’

Is there a technical plan of this part? See dia 25 What is the duration of action? Hard to tell, we outsourced this job Which tools are used in this action? Grinding wheel Which parts are standard and bought? The metal sheet (with perforations) is bought How many parts have been added? None How much does this action cost? Metal sheet = € 33
