dertaken at the plant focuses on reducingthe carbon footprint to the highest degreepossible by employing green initiatives.

Sunvik Steels has invested more than50 crores to set up a Wasted Heat Recov-ery Captive Power Plant of 10 MW to re-duce the emission of Green House Gas-es. This Captive Power Plant generatesenergy by running on coal and wastegases only. This eco-friendly step hashelped Sunvik reduce power con-sumption and cost considerably.

Realizing that solid waste was agrave concern to the goodwill of theplanet, Sunvik started making effi-cient use of the solid waste output at

the plant. So, the fly ash, coal ashand steel slag generated from both

steel and captive power plant isutilized to make fly ash bricks.

This idea has not only takencare of the impact of solid waste

on the environment but has alsobecome the source of employ-ment generation for the local pop-ulation. These steps have helpedSunvik achieve the status of themaiden Zero Solid Waste Dis-posal steel manufacturing plantin South India.
