BACKGROUND

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) administers the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund to protect, conserve and increase habitat for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators. The program is a public-private partnership with funding and other support from Shell Oil Company, the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund invests in projects that: • Support implementation of technical assistance to increase pollinator conservation

practices on private working lands• Improve the availability of high-quality pollinator habitat.

ACCOMPLISHMENTSSince 2015, the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinators Conservation Fund has awarded approximately $13.2 million to 85 projects that are helping conserve and recover the imperiled monarch butterfly and other pollinators. Grantees have matched this investment with an additional $21.3 million, for a total on-the-ground impact of more than $34.5 million.

This investment has provided support for the:• Restoration/enhancement of 269,000 acres • Propagation of 813,000 native milkweed seedlings• Collection of 930 pounds of native milkweed seeds• Coordination of 1,300 workshops and meetings
