Immigration Procedures
As international students who will study at UI, you must have a study permit from the Ministry of Education and Culture RI which will be proof of your legal status during your period of study at our university. After you get the study permit, you have to process the Visa Recommendation from Directorate General of Immigration RI.

A. Before Leaving
1. STUDY PERMIT
After you received the letter of acceptance from Universitas Indonesia, you have to process for getting a study permit from the Ministry of Education andCulture of Republic of Indonesia. International Office Officer will help you to process a study permit in Indonesia.
1.1 Study Permit Process Step by Step
You will receive a letter of acceptance from Universitas Indonesia. The Program Coordinator will give you documents to the Immigration officer
at International Office UI. After the Immigration Officer has received your documents from the
Program Coordinator, you will receive an email to pay the study permit handling processing fee. The payment must be done at least a week after you get the email.
The payment can be done by Western Union. The study permit only can be process if you already paid the handling processing fee. So, if you already paid by Western Union, please send the proof of the payment to the Immigration Officer at International Office by email.
After the Immigration officer at International Office received the all required documents and the proof of the payment, the officer will submit the document to the Ministry of Education and Culture.

1.1 Required Documents for Study permit Application
Recommendation Letter from Universitas Indonesia, Copy of Letter of Acceptance from Universitas Indonesia, A completed application form (UI form), Copy of transcript academic record/Educaton certificate/Score transcript, Curriculum Vitae (CV), Recent close-up photograph(2x3, 3x4, 4x6 cm) @ 4 Sheets/each size with RED
background, Letter of Financial Guarantee to cover study and living expenses during your study or
sponsorship certificate, Health certificate from legal-practicing medical doctor stating that the student is both
physically and mentally capable to conduct the studies, 3 (three) copies of Valid Passport and still valid for at least 18 months.
Note:Study permit process will take around 1 (one) month in the Ministry of Education and Culture. After your study permit is already approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture. We can process the next step to get the Visa Recommendation at Directorate General of Immigration.
2. VISA
2.1 Social-Cultural Visit Visa (for 6 months or less period of study)
Visa given to Foreigners who will travel to Indonesia Region in order to visit the task of government, education, social, cultural, tourism, business, family, journalism, or layover for continue the journey to another country that should applied at the Head of Representative of the Republic Indonesia (KBRI) overseas. A letter from a sponsor in Indonesia is required to issue the visa. The maximum stay without going out of the country for the social-cultural visa holder is 180 days. The initial visa is issued for a 60 days stay and can be extended 4 times in Indonesia at the Immigration office in the area you are stay. The extension must be done at least 7 days before the expiry date.
The requirements to apply Social-Cultural Visa are:· Acceptance Letter from UI· Sponsor Letter From UI· Valid passport and still valid for at least 6 (six) months
2.2 VITAS-6 Months (Temporary Stay Permit Visa for 6 Months)
The Students who will stay for 6 months, can use this kind of visa. To get this visa, you have to process the study permit first and you have to get the visa recommendation (telex visa) from the Directorate General of Immigration RI. To get telex visa, you have to pay Rp. 100.000. You can pay it via Western Union and please send the proof of payment to the Immigration Officer at International Office by email. The Telex visa will be send to KBRI in your country.

B. Arrival at Jakarta
1. KITAS, MERP, STM & SKPPS
After obtaining VITAS and arriving at Jakarta, you must start to process the Temporary Stay Permit Card (Ijin Tinggal Terbatas/KITAS)& MERP(Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit) to the Immigration Office within 14 days since the entry permit (a stamp from Airport Immigration) is issued. After you get the KITAS, you have to process STM (Local Police Report) and SKPPS (Local Government Report).

1.3 Required Documents for Local Police Report (STM-Surat Tanda Melapor)
You have to make a local police report to the nearest police office in your residence after you get the KITAS. This STM is required for a residence administration.
Requirement document for STM are:

3. Copy of Study Permit
4. Copy of Passport
5. ID Photo size 2x3, 3x4, 4x6 (4 pcs/size) RED Background
1.4 Letter for local government report (SKPPS)
You have to make a local government report (SKPPS) to the nearest Local Government office in your residence after you get the KITAS. This SKPPS is required for a residence administration.
Requirement document for SKPPS are:
1. Letter of Recommendation from UI
2. Copy of KITAS
3. Copy of Study Permit
4. Copy of Passport
5. ID Photo size 2x3, 3x4, 4x6 (4 pcs/size) RED Background

2. STUDY PERMIT AND KITAS EXTENSION STEP BY STEP
Extension procedure for Study Permit & KITAS must be carried out 2 (two) months before the expiry date.
Note:You have to extend the study permit in the Ministry of National Education, which is required as one of document you have to submit for KITAS extension.The procedure to extend the study permit as same as the process for issuing initial study permit.

Upon approval of your study permit extension, you can continue to extend the KITAS. All the process and procedure for KITAS extension as same as the process for issuing initial KITAS.

1. SOCIAL-CULTURAL VISA EXTENSION
Please be notice of your visa expiry date, the visa expiry date is counted from your arrival date.
The required Documents are:
1. Letter of Recommendation from Faculty
2. Copy of Passport (identification and Visa Part)
3. Print out of SIAK NG (Summary part)
4. 2 stamps (materai6000 that you can buy at the post office)Note: After you get the letter of recommendation from the faculty, please bring all those documents above to International Office UI and fill the request form and the letter of guarantee at International Office UI.
2. EPO (EXIT PERMIT ONLY)
For KITAS holder, before you leave Indonesia, you have to process EPO (Exit Permit Only at the
Immigration Office. If you want to process EPO, please come to International Office UI first to
make sponsor letter. The required documents are:
1. Recommendation letter from faculty
2. Copy passport and KITAS
3. Print out of SIAK NG (Summary part)

Note: Universitas Indonesia does not charge students for the assistance you receive from our Immigration Officer at International Office.
