• On Sunday, four baseball greats of the 90′s and early 2000′s were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame; Randy Johnson, John Smoltz, Pedro Martinez, and Craig Biggio

• Of the four, everyone but Craig Biggio was a World Champion at one point

• They all are extremely deserving and have accomplished things people can only dream of. Let’s take a look at the inductees

Randy Johnson (The Big Unit)

MLB Service: 1988-2009

Randy Johnson - P• Randy Johnson is one of the most dominant

left handed pitchers Major League Baseball has ever seen

• Johnson has logged over 4,100 innings pitched during his 22 years in the majors

• Johnson won 303 games including at least 17 wins in a season 10 times

• Johnson has a fastball that at times topped out at 100 mph and threw a great sweeping slider

• Johnson struck out 4,875 batters good for 2nd place all-time

• In todays game, its extremely impressive if you strike out 200-225 batters in a given season. Johnson struck out 290+ batters in a season 9 times

John SmoltzMLB Service: 1988-2009

John Smoltz - P• John Smoltz was a part of a great pitching trio in

the 90′s with the Atlanta Braves

• Smoltz joins both Gregg Maddux and Tom Glavine in the Hall of Fame

• While Smoltz was a great starting pitcher, he was also a great closer

• Following sitting out the 2000 season, Smoltz transitioned to closer in 2001 saving 10 games with a 3.36 ERA

• From 2002-2004, Smoltz saved 144 games for the Braves

• Despite splitting time as a closer and starting pitcher, Smoltz still managed to record 3,084 strikeouts, a feat only 16 pitchers have ever accomplished

• He’s the only pitcher in MLB history with at least 200 wins and 150 saves

Pedro MartinezMLB Service: 1992-2009

Pedro Martinez - P• Although he doesn’t stand as tall as

Randy Johnson, Martinez was just as effective

• He spent his most dominant years with the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox

• Although he logged just over 2,800 innings pitched, Martinez proved to be the power pitcher he was striking out 3,154 batters

• Martinez won 219 games and had a career ERA of 2.93, a phenomenal statistic for a starting pitcher

Craig BiggioMLB Service: 1988-2007

Craig Biggio - 2B/OF• Biggio played 20 years in the bigs all

for the Houston Astros

• Biggio played in 2,850 games during his career and is a part of the 3,000 hit club with 3,060 hits

• Biggio also hit 291 home runs and stole 414 bases

• In 1998, Biggio hit .325 with 210 hits, hit 20 home runs, had 51 doubles, 88 runs batted in, and stole 50 bases

• Biggio was a part of a core that included Lance Berkman, Jeff Bagwell and Roy Oswalt that won the Astros a lot of games
