As the major source of carbon emissions that contributes to global climate change are from the Building sector, the PWD

has been working with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to promote energy efficiency in buildings

through the Building Sector Energy Efficiency Project or BSEEP in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development

Goals (SDG).

Various strategies have been designed to ensure that all JKR Projects are

Constructed Sustainably

JKR Strategic Plan 2016 to 2020 has also stressed the continuity of sustainability Infrastructure. Theme 4 is

towards Leading Sustainability.

JKR’s Sustainable Development Policy acts as a top management

commitment, which outlines: Corporate objectives and goals that

need to be taken to strengthen sustainable development in the

projects undertaken by the PWD.

Every aspect of sustainability is considered and managed.

SOCIAL IMPACT • TECHNICAL DELEGATION VISITOR MOESLIM UNIVERSITY OF

INDONESIA

On 6 March 2017 JKR Malaysia has received a MOESLIM

UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA delegation consisting of

lecturers and students of 35 people.

The visit was followed by a question and answer session on

the role of JKR in the development of the country and

exchanged views on the areas of engineering practiced by

JKR. Delegates were brought to visit around the Menara

Kerja Raya at the end of the visit.

SOCIAL IMPACT VISIT FROM DELEGATION REPUBLIC OF THE BANGLADESH

The Bangladesh High Commissioner's Office in Malaysia has visited the Menara Kerja Raya on

4 August 2016. The main purpose of the visit is the partnership of the Green Initiative and the

JKR Energy Efficiency which was presented by representatives from the Environmental &

Energy Efficiency Branch (CASKT).

Subsequently, the meetings were continued with question-and-answer sessions and visits to the

main components of the Menara Kerja Raya.
