MINISTER IN CHHATTISGARH

In 1999, the Ministry of Rural Development came up. It was earlier known as Ministry of Rural Areas and Employment. The incharge of Minister in Chhattisgarh is allocated with the

responsibility of carrying out various programs related to rural development.

The Ministry of Rural Development of India provides financial support to the states as well as Union Territories to develop their training programs. This department also looks after the development of rural health, roads,

drinking water, education and housing together with the Pradhan Mantri Gramdoya Yojana (PMGY).

The various aims and objectives of the Ministry of Rural Development are:

• Reduction of poverty in rural areas.

• Development of rural infrastructure.

• Employment generation.

• Enhancing the standard of living of the rural population, etc.

The three important wings of the Indian Ministry of Rural Development which are handled by Minister in Chhattisgarh are:

• Department of Rural Development: It takes responsibility of laying down policies for employment generation, housing, assisting the poor, development of roads and irrigation projects.

• Department of Drinking Water Supply: It will undertake the provision for drinking water to the rural community.

• Department of Land Resources: It lays down plans and programs whereby the production of bio-mass will increase.

• The Ministry of Rural Development, India heads international organizations like the Afro-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) and the Centre on Integrated Rural Development of Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP).

Under the leadership of Minister in Chhattisgarh , following projects were carried out by the Indian Ministry of Rural Development:

• Council for Advancement of People Action and Rural Technology (CAPART)

• Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY)

• Bharat Nirman

• National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (NREGA)

The Ministry of Rural development offers online services also, apart from providing on site facilities to the under-developed pockets of India. Some of the online services of the Ministry include Online Budget

Information System and Verifying Inspection Report for Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana.

An agency called Chhattisgarh Rural Road Development Agency (registered under the Societies Act, has been implemented for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna in Chhattisgarh.
