Militarization of our Youth: They’re Targeting You
Ramon Mendoza and Alexis VelardeInfo@associationofrazaeducators.orgwww.associationofrazaeducators.org
JROTC JROTC programs use GUN RANGES on High
School grounds San Diego, Lincoln, and Madison High are some
examples Mission Bay is currently building one on their campus They use pellet bullets but those bullets still can hurt
someone They also have shady ways of recruiting students into
their program
JROTC Violates Policy The zero tolerance policy clearly states that any kind of
weapons are not allowed on a school campus You could say the JROTC program is in violation of this
policy but the district left itself a nice little loophole Some students have been placed in military science
courses (JROTC) without their parents’ informed consent, violating California Education Code sec. 51750
This is another clear violation
Why shouldn’t we have a gun range in school? Violence should be left off campus Against zero tolerance policy School Shootings Using what you learn in JROTC can be used in ways
that affect the community Students that can’t handle firearms can make a big
mistake and do something they might regret Those funds should be used on educational materials
and not promote violence
Why should you have student and parent consent for JROTC? This could lead to a life career choice Shouldn’t parents be informed that students are in a
program that recruits into the military? Parents should be aware that their students are
being taught to handle fire arms To inform students and parents that JROTC credits
and grades earned are not counted toward meeting college entrance requirements
Another issue we have w/ JROTC
Who’s missing in these images?
What can we do to stop it? Educate ourselves Educate others Find staff and students that support us Get parents involved Organize on our campuses’ Demand that they abide by policy like the rest of us

Community) Petitions Make a meeting with your school’s administrator Go to the Board of Education Contact Media
