Vertical Integration

SONY ENTERTAINMENT

Clever buggers make their own consoles AND create,

develop and distribute their own games.

To compete with American giants Microsoft, sony created

a new system, procesor and software to compete.

So they have their hand in the “Pie” that is the lucrative

gaming world.

They make dell, acer apparently, which is more fingers in

the proverbial pie

SONY PICTURES

A sister company of Sony which

produces and distributes television

shows and films. Although part of the

Japanese Sony it is based in California.

SONY ERICSON

This is a mobile phone creator (Apparently). It has

another finger in the pie.

It is the alliance between Sony Ericson.

This is an example of vertical marketing.

This is an example of a convergence

SONY MUSIC

Sister company of Sony which makes it vertical

integration.

Below are some of Sony Music’s flagship labels,

this is an example of horizontal integration.

They created the sony walkman. Crating a famous

company craetion and getting recognition and brand

image.

SONY FINANCE

Owns and oversees the operation of Sony Life

Insurance, Sony Assurance, Sony Bank and Sony

Bank Securities.

I suppose that taking a “piece of pie” on each

buissness is an example of vertical integration but

I’m not sure to be honest. Sorry dudes.

FUN FACTS

. The company name comes from the Latin word

sonus (which means sound).

. In 2000, Sony created a fake movie critic who gave

favorable reviews to all films released by Sony

subsidiary Columbia Pictures!

They also make Play Station, stopping a multi-billion

pound Microsoft monopoly.
