F.Y.I.• D-A Boy Scout Camp is located in Metamora, MI• Learning for Life Activities are sponsored by the Boy Scouts• Durfee students, parents & staff have participated in the camping

program for the last 5 years (both Day Camp and Overnight Camp)• Students have experiences that may not be readily available to

them such as horseback riding, archery, hiking and fishing• Students have the opportunity to practice their independent living

skills (i.e. time management, self-care, decision-making, cooking, etc.)

• Students also practice their socialization and communication skills• Fun is had by all that attend

At camp we still have our daily chores, one of which is gathering wood for the fire.

Once, the wood is gathered, we must stack the wood to build our bon fire., where we make smores and/ or hot dogs.

Horseback riding seems hard at first, but a lot of fun when you’re on the horse!

It gets easier each time I come!

What am I supposed to do with this?

How did you say to hold the bow & arrow?

Archery isn’t as easy as it looks! I plan on making a bullseye.

Hiking through the campgrounds is a lot of fun & work

Why is everyone hiking so fast?!? Don’t leave me!

We took a couple of deep breaths while waiting for the rest of the hikers.

Thank Goodness, we can sit down after that long hike!

Arts & Crafts Time. . . What’s this supposed to be???

We completed our desk organizers! Ours look the best!

Good, we get to sit down on the tractor pulled hayride.

Even parents have fun at camp!

Fishing, Swimming, and Canoeing all are activities at camp.

You want me to pick up the worm and put it on the hook!?!

We are taught about water safety when at the lake

Look I caught a fish Dad!

I caught one too! Who’s going to take it off the hook?

Who signed us up for kitchen duty?

Who chose breakfast duty? These kids are crazy in the morning!

I thought I left my chores at home with mom and dad!

We had fun at camp and can’t wait until next year!
