Weight and Mass

There are many types of measurement units to measure amounts of mass and weight. A few examples of those measurement units are: pounds, ounces, kilograms (KG) , grams (G) , etc…

3

Pounds and Ounces

Pounds and ounces are measurement units used to measure weight or mass. Pounds are often used to measure human weight on weighing scales, however ounce cannot be used to measure weight as it is too small. European traders divided the pound into 16 ounces. That way, the traders could divide by half, quarters, or eighths. Therefore, a pound is equal to 16 ounces.

Kilograms and Grams

The words kilograms and grams aren’t usually used, because people use the short forms of kg and g. Kg is used to measure body mass or even things u want to trade, and g is used for the same thing but only for lighter objects. 1 kg is also equal to 1000g. Although kg and pounds seem very different, they can still be converted. A pound is equal to 453.6 g, which is also equal to 0.4536 kg.

Length

Just like weight and mass, length has its own specified measurement units. Some are for measuring long distance, and some are for measuring short distances. A few examples of the measurement units for length are: yards, feet, kilometres (KM) , meters (M) , centimeters (CM) and many more……

Yards and Feet

A yard is a measurement unit for length or a distance from one place to another. It is hard to convert a yard to the commonly used kilometre (KM) or even meter (M) . However, a yard can be easily converted to a foot easily. A yard is three times the length of a foot.

The measurement units foot and yard is more commonly used in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. A foot is worth 0.33 times the length of a yard. Therefore, it is used the same way, but is used differently when it comes to different distances.

Kilometers (KM) , Meters (M) and Centimeters (CM)

Kilometers, meters and centimeters (or KM, M and CM for short ) is the most commonly used measuring units for length. KM is the longest out of the three, it is usually used to measure the distance or the road. In 1 KM, there is 1000 M, and in 1 M, there is 100 CM, so 1 KM is also equal to 100000 CM. M is usually used for medium sized lengths, for instance a door or whiteboard or even the height of a chair. CM is used for short things like: pencils, books, squares and many more.
