Counter Log Information in Performance Console
COLUMN DESCRIPTION
Name The name of the counter log. It describes the type of data you
are collecting or the condition you are monitoring
Comment Any descriptive information about the counter log
Log File Type The log file format that you define
Log File Name The path and base file name that you defined for the files that are
generated by this counter log. The base file name is used for automatically
naming new files.

To start Performance, click start- administrative tools-click performance
Double-click Performance Logs and Alerts, and thenclick Counter Logs.
Right-click a blank area of the details pane, and thenclick New log settings
In the Name box, type the name of the log, and thenclick OK.
On the General tab, click Add Counters to select thecounters that you want to log
Change the default file and schedule information, makethe changes on the Log Files tab and the Schedule tab.
