1) SYSTEM OBJECTIVE AND NEEDS
1.1)INTRODUCTION
About McDonald’s
The McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) is the world's largest chain
of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119
countries. Headquartered in the United States, the company began in 1940 as a barbecue
restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald; in 1948 they reorganized their
business as a hamburger stand using production line principles. Businessman Ray
Kroc joined the company as a franchise agent in 1955. He subsequently purchased the
chain from the McDonald brothers and oversaw its worldwide growth.
A McDonald's restaurant is operated by a franchisee, an affiliate, or the corporation itself.
McDonald's Corporation revenues come from the rent, royalties, and fees paid by the
franchisees, as well as sales in company-operated restaurants. In 2012, McDonald's
Corporation had annual revenues of $27.5 billion, and profits of $5.5 billion.
McDonald's primarily sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, french
fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes, and desserts. In response to changing
consumer tastes, the company has expanded its menu to
include salads, fish, wraps, smoothies, and fruit.
The McDonald's headquarters complex, McDonald's Plaza, is located in Oak Brook,
Illinois. It sits on the site of the former headquarters and stabling area of Paul Butler, the
founder of Oak Brook. McDonald's moved into the Oak Brook facility from an office
within the Chicago Loop in 1971.
In 2012, McDonald's Corporation had annual revenues of $27.5 billion, and profits of
$5.5 billion.

1.2) PROBLEMS IN THE EXISTING SYSTEM
1) It is very complex to naive users.
2) It is very costly.
3) It is very time-consuming.
4) Its maintenance is very difficult.
5) We need trained professionals to create this websites.
6) It is very complicated to use.
7) Lack of appropriate information.
8) Non-reliable outcomes.

1.3.1) my website provide easy and understandable information’s to users.
1.3.2) my website provides full description of the menu in MCDONALD’S.
1.3.3) my website provides profile of the company.

1.4) DATA COLLECTION:
We can collect our data by two (2) ways:-
(A) PRIMARY DATA
Primary data is information collected by the researcher directly through instruments such
as surveys, interviews, focus groups or observation. Tailored to his specific needs,
primary research provides the researcher with the most accurate and up-to-date data.
FOR EXAMPLES:-
Collection of data directly by the researcher on brand awareness, brand preference, brand
loyalty and other aspects of consumer behavior from a sample of consumers by
interviewing them. Primary data are first-hand information collected through various
methods such as observation, interviewing, mailing etc.
(B) SECONDARY DATA
Secondary data, on the other hand, is basically primary data collected by someone else.
Researchers reuse and repurpose information as secondary data because it is easier and
less expensive to collect. However, it is seldom as useful and accurate as primary data.
FOR EXAMPLES:-
Census reports, annual reports and financial statements of companies, Statistical
statements, Reports of Government Departments, Annual Reports on currency and
finance published by the National Bank for Ethiopia, Statistical Statements relating to
Cooperatives, Federal Cooperative Commission.
9
My project will focus on secondary data collection.
I have collected the data from various sources which includes various websites like
