Umpire Payments
• We are still spending hours researching unpaid referee fees each summer
• More and more towns are complaining about getting enough funds to the field each game day
• Some towns are paying fees by check after game day
• EMWLUA and MBGLL agreed to use the voucher system that is set up in Arbiter Systems.
• No more payments given to officials on game day.
• All payments mailed the day after a game (after 12p).
• If an official no-shows, you must notify Robin Volpone (robinvolpone@msn.com) before noon the day after a game.
• Vouchers automatically calculate amount given to each official (jr. vs. certified adult)
Rule Modification 3-pass rule • Intent of 3-pass rule is to encourage team participation and to
eliminate the superstars/ball hogs • Coaches and players are gaming the rule and not playing good
defense until 3rd pass • MBGLL’s board recommends keeping the 3-pass rule for the small
field and eliminating it on the large field.
• VOTE - approved
• EMWLUA has asked that MBGLL standardize its 3-pass rule with the Founder’s League. • MBGLL – 3-pass rule resets at the 50 yard line
• Founder’s League – 3-pass rule resets at each turn-over • MBGLL’s board recommends keeping the 3-pass rule for the small
field and resetting count at every turnover.
• VOTE - approved
Rule Modification
• MBGLL requires equally balanced teams at each level. The intention of this rule is to create teams that are equal in skill size, and maturity level.
• No stacking
• No grade-based teams
MBGLL Select
• Developed to meet the needs of advanced players to enable them to compete at a higher level
• 2nd year
• Slow Growth
• Do we want to keep the MBGLL Select Program? VOTE - yes
• Some Rhode Island teams would like to join our MBGLL Select Program
• MBGLL Recommends allowing admission if they join both the Recreation and the Select Leagues. MBGLL’s South division will vote on this.
Parity Scheduling
• Parity scheduling seems to work well except for in the advanced pools. More advanced teams are starting to look at other leagues for competitive games.
• For advanced teams, we’d like to create two scheduling pools, with the dividing line located at the Mass Pike.
• Would mean greater driving distances for advanced teams
• Would allow for parity scheduling in this scheduling pool
• Scheduling team will work this out
