City Track: NOT A “GET OUT OF SCHOOL FREE DAY”
Attention Parents: Please do not call or send notes to excuse students to be released from school to attend the City Track Meet at Wendy’s Field on May 23rd. Unless students are participating in the track meet, they should be in class as normal. In past years, students were all over the track and in-field during the meet; many of the students were never in track or had any real interest in track, other than a reason to get out of school on a Spring day! Supervision is not available to manage students not involved in the meet, as all available staff are coaching, running events, or in their classrooms teaching. A student with a sibling participating in the meet may be re-leased directly to his/her parent and will be asked to remain seated in the stands for the duration of the meet. If this is the case, please call or send a note to excuse the student; a student will not be checked out to anyone other than his/her parent or guardian.
BOY’S TRACK
The 2017 track season in Montana always means a few things to
coaches: wind, rain, and probably SNOW. We have had fair
weather and lots of rain this year; six inches as opposed to the
average of three at this point. The seventh and eighth grade
boys have gone up against Riverside and Medicine Crow, and
while we didn't exactly sweep all the events, we had fun and set
standards for improvement this year. Cameron Icenoggle has
joined our team as the throwing coach, allowing me to be on the
track getting to know the athletes better this season. I am as
glad to have him now as a coach as I did when I had him as an
athlete. Times in events will come down and distances and
heights will go up. Some athletes will exceed their own expecta-
tions, others will come away with even more determination to
improve than they had going into an event. We can always use
parent volunteers to help run events at home meets, such as
timing or officiating long jump, or some other field event. Sev-
eral athletes have their eyes focused on the track and field re-
cord board near the gym, in hopes that their name will be added
to it after the City Middle School Meet. I enjoy working with
all the young men and women who have come out for track this
season. Don’t forget our city wide meet on Tuesday, May
23rd at Wendy’s Field (old timers like me still call it Daylis
Stadium). Hope to see you all there supporting our young ath-
letes!
Coach Moore
GIRL’S TRACK
The 2017 girls track season is going very well. We started out with 50 girls and many will qualify for the City Meet. Mr. Chase, Mr. Bertsch, and myself are proud of the work ethic of the participants and our great managers. Our City Meet is at Wendy’s Field on Tuesday, May 23rd; it will be an exciting day for everyone involved. Good luck girls! We are proud of all of you! Parents, thanks for your support and help throughout the track meets, especially when we needed to go into the crowd and recruit timers. The staff members who gave up their time to work the meets are also appreciated. Thanks for a great sea-son and good luck at City! Ms. Parish
SPORTS PHYSICAL DATES
Sports physicals will be offered on Tuesday and
Wednesday, May 2-3, and Tuesday through
Thursday on August 1-3, from 3:30-4:30 PM, at
the Billings Clinic Orthopedic and Sports
Medicine Center, 2702 8th Ave. North, $20.00,
cash or check only. In addition, sports physi-
cals will be offered on Saturday, June 3, at Or-
tho MT Sports Medicine Center, 2900 12th
Ave. North, Suite 100E, $20.00, cash or check
only.
Eighth graders going to Skyview next year will
need a new sports physical. A sports physical
form can be obtained online, or from the Main
Office at Castle Rock. If you have any ques-
tions regarding the physicals, please contact
Joni Bertsch, 281-5100 at the Billings Public
Schools Activities Office.
CASTLE ROCK STAFF
THANKS YOU!
The Castle Rock staff would like to thank the
parents for contributing to the Staff Apprecia-
tion Luncheon. We had numerous monetary
donations, door prizes, delicious food, and help
during the luncheon. We can’t tell you how
much we appreciate all the parental support at
Castle Rock. It certainly explains why you
have such great kids!
TEEN FOOD PANTRY
Castle Rock Middle School has a Teen Food Pantry for students in need. We accept non-perishable food donations any time of the year. Currently, we are low on dinner items and canned fruits, but we appreciate any dona-tions. We also appreciate school supplies (especially binders and trapper-like keepers). Have any Skyview and/or Castle Rock t-shirts or sweatshirts? We love those, too! Please contact Lyon Virostko at 281-5805, or feel free to drop them off at the Main Office. THANK YOU!
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in working for the Nutrition
Service Department during the 2017/2018

******ATTENTION PARENTS******
If your child takes prescription medication at school, either from the school nurse or self-administer, the school order sheets MUST be signed by the medical provider before the medication can be given at school. Your child’s medication order will no longer be faxed from your child’s school. The school will not accept any medication or orders with-out the proper signatures. This requirement will be strictly enforced for the 2017-2018 school year. This decision has been made for compliance with HIPAA regulations. If your child self-administers and over the counter medication, only parental signature is required. Thank you, Your Heights School Nurses
