Marriage Minute
Sometimes we forget that we don’t walk the road of married life
alone! The same Holy Spirit that transformed the Apostles’ fear into
boldness wants to work in our marriages today. Let us ask the Holy
Spirit to intercede for our marriages this weekend in the words of the
beautiful sequence we prayed at Mass:
Heal our wounds, our strength renew; On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away; Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt
the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray. On the
faithful, who adore and confess you, evermore In your sevenfold gift
descend; Give them virtue's sure reward; Give them your salvation,
Lord; Give them joys that never end.

Thanks for all you do for the People of God!
On 25 May 2018, Ireland will hold a referendum on the eighth amendment of the country’s constitution, which
effectively bans abortion. If the electorate repeals the eighth it would allow for the government to legislate on abor-
tions. This would change the long standing Pro Life culture of Ireland.
A PRAYER FOR IRELAND
Lord our God,
you have always called your People to choose life,
that we and our children might live in your love and peace.
Many are the enemies of life,
and many more have misplaced right reason
for the sake of emotion or expedience.
Have mercy upon us all,
and, especially, at this time,
upon the people of the great nation of Ireland,
a people long-known for their Christian fidelity.
May they choose life for their nation—
for themselves and the generations to come—
and reject whatever compromises or degrades
the dignity of the singular gift of human life.
Assist them with your grace,
that they may find just and lasting solutions
to the challenges which beset our frail humanity.
And may their witness on behalf of the truth
shine as a beacon of light and hope for all the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
