GREETINGS!
I am so excited to begin my ministry as pastor
of Mary Queen of Peace. Over the past few
months as I have been preparing to leave
St. Richard’s in Richfield, I have been using
the phrase “Life’s about change.” While it’s
generally not easy, change is a necessary part
of life. Perhaps the great challenge that comes
with change is that it means learning new ways of doing things and
leaving the comfort of our usual patterns of life and the ease comes
with normalcy. As I have been unpacking in the rectory setting a
new home and trying to familiarize myself with the Rogers area, I
am reminded how difficult change can be in the initial days. That is
because change involves patience and that takes time.
There is a lot to learn in the first weeks of a new assignment –
names, faces, ways of doing things, learning new ways of life. I
hope that you will be patient as I get myself accustomed to life here
at Mary Queen of Peace. I wish I could tell you that I will have it all
figured out by next week, but I don’t think that is going to happen -
not because I don’t want to, but because change is slow.
I have only been here a few days, and I already feel at home in
Rogers – I grew up in Maple Lake, only 30 miles away so I am
familiar with the area. After my father could no longer live at home
on the farm, we moved him to Wellstead, where he lived until his
death in 2014. My mother is still on the farm at home and she has
been here to see the parish already. I expect other members of my
family who are in the area may find their way to visit as well. It
won’t be too long and I think I will be settled into life here and we
will get to know each other and grow in love of Jesus and our call to
be His disciples.
God Bless You,
Father Mark Pavilk

A NOTE FROM DEACON JOE SMITH
As many of you may know, our daughter and her
family recently moved to Tennessee.
We have made the difficult decision to move there
as well, and have begun the process of putting our
house up for sale and making plans for the move to Tennessee.
Until our house is sold, we will continue to be active members of
Mary Queen of Peace and work closely with Fr. Pavlik during the
transition. In the near future, you may see less of us as we will be
traveling to visit family and look for our new home.
Please keep Anne and I in your prayers as we embark on this
great adventure!
Blessings,
Deacon Joe
