Development of a conceptual space smart kitchen mixer, with focus on user centered design

To fill the gap of a smart kitchen mixers in the market we refer to as Urban compacy living, we brough the concept of a compact wall mounted and multi-functional mixer back to life.

Based on an old product, with a brilliant mechanical design, we developed a concept for a space smart kitchen mixer - designed to offer the best user experice.

We asked ourselves;

1. Is there a need for this product?

2. What is the market segment?

3. Who is the target customer?

4. What are customer’s real needs?

Results from research;

1. Yes, there is a rising demand

2. Market segment is Urban Compact Living

3. The target customer is the Y-generation

4. The real customer needs are; more time, inspiration & space

The typical user is a small urban household from the y-generation. They are busy, constantly connected, have many interests and are into quick, healthy meals on

the go - as well as the latest gourmet trends.

The first sketches of the final design

Some great features of the final design;- One movement & no tools to mount it ovn the wall.

- Electrolux flow line sweeps around the body

- Simple user interface

- Digital display shows through the material

- Tactile rotary switch gives feedback

- Compact enough to fit in a kitchen drawer

- Build in scale and therometer

- Timer automatically counts up the time

- Built-in induction heater

- Special spatula for folding the dough

Safe Headphones

Urbanears always puts the users first and therefor asked us;

“How can we prevent hearing loss when using headphones - without comprimising the audio quality?

Me

Analysis;

The Info App- instant feedback - check listening pattern- information on hearing loss & tinitus

The Remote- instant feedback - check listening pattern- information on hearing loss & tinitus- remote instructions

The Folder- simple and fun information- the first thing found when unboxing

Concept; hAPPyRE:mote +fold:EAR +

Acoustics - encourage the user to experience the sound higher than it is.

Isolation - attenuation of ambient background noise.

Noise Cancelling - Frequency dependence of noise reduction.

Behavior modification - motivating the user to adjust the volume.Active feedback - Direct indication to the user of the estimated sound pressure levels.Automatic reduction - systems that reduce the noise level after a certain exposure.

In the end, it ought to be the user’s desire to not expose themselves to higher noise level than what is harmful.

- So, How can we help them?

Ideation;

We want to prevent hearing damage without restricting the user in any way, and research shows that measuring the ear’s noise exposure is the only way to do so....

... which is highly difficult because of all the fac-tors that affect our hearing. The problems are to measure accurately and to know when it’s harmful.

The concept will be based on these two ways of helping the headphone users

Safe Headphones

20

At the end of the ideation phase we chose to work

with behavior innovation & active feedback

A dot method is used among the team members to choose the final design

1.This concept provides the users with information and opportunity for direct feedback, which can influence the user’s behavior before, during, and after listening, without limiting the product.

1. fold:EAR - Enlighten user g wanna change

2. RE:mote - Direct control g can change

3. hAPPy - Instant feedback g have changed

The bowl has a rubber plate in the bottom to seperate water from the sallad, a plastic cutting board with a hole on one side to chop vegitables into the bowl and a tightly fitting lid in stainless steel to help everything stay fresh.

This twisted & gracefully chaped Orrefors glass bowl

is also a smart & functional sallad bowl.
