What is an extreme environment

• An extreme environment is an environment that humans might struggle to survive in.

• Extreme environments can be any type of condition, for example, they can be Hot, Cold, Dry, Remote, Stormy, Dark and some lack in oxygen as well.

Where they are found

• Extreme environments include the Antarctic, Arctic, some deserts, jungles, volcanoes, underwater, mountains, outer space and other planets. These are found all around the world in certain locations. The continent that has a lot of extreme environments is Asia. I think this is because it is so hot over there.

How they are used

• People use extreme environments for a challenge, or to set some sought of world record. They do this because they want to show others that things are possible.

Life and Death

People do stare death into the face when they try to complete these challenges, a lot of people have died trying to climb mount Everest. Also, some people have had to back out from these challenges because the conditions are so bad.

Mount Everest

• Mount Everest is the world's highest mountain above sea level at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). Here is a picture to show you what it looks like. Mt. Everest attracts well-experienced mountaineers as well as novice climbers who are willing to try and climb the mountain.

Where is Mount Everest?

• Mount Everest is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet. Here is a picture to show you where mount Everest is located.

History In 1953, there were two brave mountaineers who

decided to climb Mount Everest. There names were Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. They successfully climbed the mountain on May 29th 1953. They are both dead now but they will not be forgotten for their great achievement, of succeeding in being the first two people to climb Mount Everest

Easiest Route

• The easiest route to climb Mount Everest is South Col which is located in Nepal. This route was used by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. The South Col is the lowest point of the sunny ridge in the right background.

About Mount Everest

• Everest was formed about sixty million years ago. Mount Everest was named after Sir George Everest in 1865, He was the British surveyor-general of India.
