The pharma advances for considerable improvement in lie expectancy and health all over the would are the result of a steadily increasing investment in research. There is considerablescope for collaborative R&D in India can offer several strengths to the international R&D Commuinity. These relate to availability of excellent scientific telents who can develop combinational chemistry, new synthetic molecules and plant derived candidate drugs.
The R&D expenditure by the Indian pharmaceutical industry is around 1.9% of the industry turnover. This Indian pharmaceutical industry is very low when compared to investment on R&D by foreign research-based pharma companies. They spend 10-16% of the turnover on R&D however, now that India is entering into the patent protction area; many companies are spending relatively more on R&D.
Indian pharmaceutical industry with its rich scientific telent provides cot- effective clinical trial research. It has an excellent record of development of improve, cost-beneficial chemical syntheis for various drug molecules. Some MNC’s are already sourcing these services from their Indian affiliates.
20
The pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry is eligible for weight deduction for R&D expense up to 150% There R&D companies will also enjoy tax holiday for 10 years. A promotional research and development fund over Rs150corores is set up the government to promote research and development in the pharmaceutical sector.

Providing access to the people to explore our resources is absolutely unrestricted.
26
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPOSIBILITY
With businesses focusing on generating profits, sustainability was not a popular concern among companies up until recently. Now, in an era of globalization, multinational corporations (those that conduct business in more than one country) and local businesses are no longer able to conduct destructive and unethical practices, such as polluting the environment, without attracting negative feedback from the general public.
With increased media attention, pressure from non-governmental organizations, and rapid global information sharing, there is a surging demand from civil society, consumers, governments, and others for corporations to conduct sustainable business practices. In addition, in order to attract and retain employees and customers, companies are beginning to realize the...

27
Mankind has a strong feeling of Corporate Social Responsibility inscribed in its book of values. Its concern for the society extends well beyond its commercial motives. Mankind feels equally
responsible to return to the society, what it has given of which it is now proud of.

relationship that exists between the company and the society it functions.

Mankind Tests Indian Patent Law
THE DELHI HIGH COURT last week started hearing Roche's demand for an injunction against the Indian firm am MANKIND, which is marketing a generic version of Tarceva, a Roche lung cancer drug. The case marks the first time that an Indian producer of generic drugs has started local sale of a drug that is under patent protection in that country. Roche received an Indian patent for Tarceva in 2007.
Jean-François Tremblay/C&ENHamied
33
Mankind, India's leading generic drug company in terms of market share, is selling its own low-cost version of erlotinib, the generic name of Tarceva, under the trade name Erlocip. Cipla sells its copycat drug for about $42 per tablet, versus $125 for the Roche version. The drug needs to be taken once daily.
Alexander Klauser, a spokesman for Roche in Switzerland, says the company is seeking an injunction againsta Mankind largely as a matter of principle. "Just as we respect other people's intellectual properties, we expect ours to be respected," he says. Klauser adds that pharmaceutical patents lie at the root of the system that allows medical innovation to take place. Roche won't provide Tarceva's sales figures in India.
R.C.JUNEJA, Mankind chairman, contends that Roche's patent is invalid in India because the patent application for the drug was originally filed in 1999.
In 2005, India started implementing a new patent regime that grants protection to companies that filed applications for their pharmaceuticals in 1999 or later. This move was in keeping with its obligations as a developing country under the international agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights
(TRIPS), a World Trade Organization-sanctioned trading treaty.

New Drug Discovery
While our skills are among the best in the India, what makes us different is our
multi-disciplinary approach to research. Our research capabilities are extensive, from
Chemical Synthesis, Delivery Systems and Medical Devices to Process Engineering, Animal
Health Products, Neutraceuticals and Biotechnology. We believe there’s no use in
developing life-saving medicines if we can’t make them affordable for the patient.
Today, across India, there are millions of patients who get to use a Mankind
product to prevent, to cure, or for relief from suffering. In their cure and relief lies
the ultimate purpose of what we do.
At Mankind, this has been the driving force behind our continuous Quest for
quality. And quality is an obsession here for the 7000 People who walk into work
every morning.
35
World-class quality is reflected in everything we do – from start to finish. Over the
years, we have taken on the challenges facing the world, tackling the newer dimensions of
diseases, like AIDS. At a time when it was a death sentence and medication was
unaffordable to most, Mankind opened the doors of hope to millions and millions
of patients by becoming the first company in the world to offer the Triple-Drug
AIDS Cocktail for less than a dollar a day. One out of every three HIV-AIDS
patients under treatment in Africa uses a Mankind drug.Mankind, originally
founded as the Chemical, Industrial & Pharmaceutical Laboratories is a
prominent Indian pharmaceutical company,

46
Research Objective
My research objective is comparative analysis of different brand in
PHARMACUETICAL INDUSTRY of different molecules. The molecule are –
Atorvastatin
Matoprolol
Nemesulide
1. To find out the whether the chemist are aware about these salt or not ?
2. To find out which brand of particular salt is being prescribed by doctors
most and why?
3. To find out competitors of these molecules?
47
Research Methodology
One-structured questionnaires were prepared which consisted of open as well as close-ended questions with regard to information that was sought for carrying the project. The questionnaire was prepared for one types of target population viz:Chemists/retailers.
Research DesignNature of Research:-
Since source of secondary data directly relevant were scares. It was decided that the analysis had to be primary data analysis, collected directly from the chemists/retailers. The survey method was chosen to be a shop-to-shop PERSONAL INTERVIEW survey.
Due to availability of knowledge of specific problems, the research could be classified as a descriptive research (conclusive). It was aimed to access the market potential and to get an idea about the awareness & availability of Atorvastatin, Matoprolol, and Nemesulide.
Sampling technique stratified sampling & area sampling
Sample elements: 261 chemist’s retailers
Sample extent: Ghaziabad,noida,shahiabad,hapur.
Type of Data: Primary Data: Because data was collected directly from the
market, No previous data were available.
Sample time: 7 th june to 7th August.
48
Questionnaire Design
A questionnaire is undoubtedly one of the most crucia determinants of a research’s effectiveness. It was collection of open and closed ended question.
The questionnaire is attached as annexure.
Sampling process:

Suggesitions and Recommendations
66
From the data representations and interpretation, I conclude and recommend that:
In order to increase the market share in Ghaziabad, Noida, and Hapur&Shahihabad of its Lipikind, Amlokind_AT, and Nobej_MD should try to make more calls at regular intervals to CHEMIST because chemists play an important role in final selling of the product there.
To capture more market share Mnakind should focus on general physicians too.
Good and formal relationship with prescribers/Doctors.
Slight compromise with the pricing of these drugs should be made and it should be made down somewhere to the leading brands.
Frequent technological department is necessary as it obsletes very soon as the more advance one comes.
Value chain should be improved-provides competitive edge.
Company should try for leaving its old traditional generics research.
Distribution network should be maintained all over in Ghaziabad, Noida, Hapur&Shahihabad.
Replacement schemes must be offered in case the drugs get expired at chemist’s shop.
67
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
No name and address of the doctors on the prescription leaflet. The chemist shop – especially those that were around the hospitals and medicine institutional, did not tell prescribers name.
Non-cooperative behavior of the chemists.
Demands may vary as per the need.
All the things are based on the response given by the respodent so any false information given by respondent could make the actual result wrong.
Some people didn’t have enough time to fill up the questionnaire.
68
Conclusion :
It is really a knowledgefull project for me. In this project I come to know how to convince the people. After working over the project I come to know that Mankind is market leader in many molecules in ghaziabad and it is also in a strong position in Noida in this category but they should pay their attention in other molecule like Amlokind_AT, Nobel_MD because in these molecules position is not so good. There are many competitor in the market and they have good share on many molecule. These companies are Ranbaxy, Lupin.Mankind is under the category of top Indian companies facing tough competition with it’s competitors. There were some limitations on my work area inspite of these I completed this project with the right guidance of my mentor and support of retailers in Ghaziabad, Noida, Hapur & Shahiabad.
