Water spray for
RO-RO Space and
Special category spaces
MSC.1/Circ.1430 FIXED WATER-BASED FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEMS FOR RO-RO SPACES AND SPECIAL CATEGORY SPACES
The system is manually activated.
All systems should be divided into sections. Each section should be capable of being isolated by one section control
valve. The section control valves should be located outside the protected space, be readily accessible without en-
tering the protected spaces and their locations should be clearly and permanently indicated. It should be possible
to manually open and close the section control valves either directly on the valve or via a control system routed
outside of the protected spaces. Means should be provided to prevent the operation of the section control valves
by an unauthorized person. Control valve locations should be adequately ventilated to minimize the build-up of
smoke.
The system should be provided with a redundant means of pumping or otherwise supplying a water-based
extinguishing medium to the system. The capacity of the redundant means should be sufficient to compensate for
the loss of any single supply pump or alternative source. Failure of any one component in the power and control
system should not result in a reduction of required pump capacity of deluge systems. However, systems requiring
an external power source need only be supplied by the main power source.
The system should be fitted with a permanent sea inlet and be capable of continuous operation during a fire using
sea water.
Vertically the applicable area of all decks, including hoistable decks or other intermediate decks, between
reasonably gas-tight steel decks (or equivalent materials), should be included for simultaneous coverage. Decks
with ramps are accepted as reasonably gas-tight decks assuming that the ramps are always in their closed posi-
tion at sea and the ramps and the decks which these ramps are part of are reasonably gas-tight.
All release controls for deluge systems, , water pressure on the discharge side of all pump units, and the posi-
tion indication of all section valves should be available and grouped together in a continuously manned con-
trol station or the safety centre, if provided.
The length of a deluge section (along the lanes) should not be less than 20 m and the width of the section should
not be less than 14 m. Further, the sections need not be longer or wider than the distance between reasonably gas-
tight steel bulkheads (or equivalent materials). The maximum size of a section on any single deck should be 48 m
multiplied by the width of cargo space (measured as distance between tight steel divisions). Vertically one section
can cover up to three decks.
The pump should be sized to cover the two largest horizontally adjacent sections for type C systems.
Centrifugal In-Line Vertical pump
High velocity spray nozzle
The high velocity water spray nozzle is intended for use in engineered fire protec-
tion systems to give exposure protection to capital equipment. The water velocity
and droplet size are engineered to provide good exposure protection of capital
equipment where a significant throw is required or when the nozzle is positioned
Manual zone / isolation valve
The valve butterfly is used in all water based applications where there are a de-
mand for isolation, drain or test valves. It is also used as manual zone valves in sea
water systems.
Resilient seated butterfly valve, wafer. To be installed between two raised face
flanges in accordance with DIN PN 16 standard.
The S31 butterfly valve is type approved by all the major classification societies,
such as DnV, LR, GL, ABS, BV, CCS
Medium velocity spray nozzle
The Thermospray medium velocity spray nozzle is designed to produce a solid
cone of evenly distributed water droplets, the majority of which are less than
0.4mm Ø. The water velocity at the nozzle exit lies between 15 and 25 m/sec when
used within the recommended operating pressure range of 1.4 to 3.5 bar. Above
3.5 bar the droplet size decreases reducing the fire plume penetration and
increasing the risk of spray pattern distortion by wind.
The ‘type S’ range of drencher nozzles offers the very latest in design and perfor-
mance, being both highly compact and durable. Drencher nozzles are open sprin-
kler nozzles which are available with different sizes of orifices (K-factors).

Single stage, in-line, centrifugal pumps.
The suction and discharge flanges are identical and they are on the same axis. Both flanges are equipped with pressure gauge tapings.
Single entry, closed impeller is equipped with rear rings to balance thrust and is dynamically balanced.
Motor is connected to the pump by an adaptor and a flange.
Pump starter cabinet
Pump starter cabinet for water and/or foam liquid pumps used for fixed fire sup-
pression systems.
The pump starter cabinets are supplied with either soft starter or direct on-line
starter (DOL), depending on the motor current consumption.
Included in the cabinet is an isolating transformer for 1 fase control voltage sup-
ply.
Complete range of suppression systems. Our large range of fire suppression
system makes us an ideal partner for the customer who is looking for a single
source supplier of suppression systems. Our suppression product range from low
pressure water mist systems protecting machinery spaces, pump rooms, accom-
modation areas, special category spaces and local protection, foam systems for
helicopter deck, tank deck and offshore service vessels, dry chemical systems for
bunkering stations, wet chemical for galley deep fat fryer's, and more.
