GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, BHUJ has applied for the grant under
SSIP (Student Startup and Innovation Policy) Phase – V.
Institute was allotted grant of Rs.5, 00,000/- for SSIP activities.
M.o.U. between GKS (Gujarat Knowledge Society) and GEC-Bhuj was done on 31st
May,2019
Institute Scrutiny Committee, IPR Scrutiny committee, Institute level committee were
formed as per directives of GKS.
52 faculties are registered as mentor from various departments.
For year 2019-20 following activities were conducted:
Sensitization Program
1) For enlightening students regarding startups and SSIP policy sensitization
programs were conducted.
2) At departmental level various sensitization programs where conducted
wherein 563 students were sensitized.
Scrutiny of projects
1) Proposals were invited from students for availing SSIP grants.
2) First level of scrutiny was carried out at departmental level, from which 17
innovative projects were scrutinized and sent to institute scrutiny
committee.
3) Institute scrutiny committee short-listed 08 projects for availing SSIP grants
on basis of various parameters such as innovation, research, social
application of projects etc.
4) 01 project requiring funding more than Rs. 50,000/- is forwarded to institute
level scrutiny committee.
5) Total 08 proposals were sanctioned with amount of Rs. 1,04,500/-
Workshop
For enhancing entrepreneurial skills one day workshop on “Innovation at Grass-Root Level”
was organized on 24th February, 2020 in association with IIC-PDPU, Gandhinagar. Around
143 students actively participated in the same. Fund of Rs. 10,817.5 was utilized for this
workshop.
For year 2020-21 following activities are conducted till date:

program were carried out in online mode through MS Team platform.
2) At departmental level various sensitization programs where conducted
wherein 459 students were sensitized.

1) Proposals were invited from students for availing SSIP grants.
2) First level of scrutiny was carried out at departmental level, from which 23
innovative projects were scrutinized and sent to institute scrutiny
committee.
3) Owing to ongoing pandemic, institute scrutiny were carried out in online
mode through MS Team platform. Institute scrutiny committee short-listed
12 projects for availing SSIP grants on basis of various parameters such as
innovation, research, social application of projects etc.
4) 01 project requiring funding more than Rs. 50,000/- is forwarded to institute
level scrutiny committee.
Total 12 proposals were sanctioned with amount of Rs. 1, 65,300/-
Online Capacity Building Program
07 Faculties were nominated for participating in online capacity building
program “Nurturing Innovation and Startup Ecosystem” (NISE) held by iHub
during 08/09/2020 to 24/10/2020. Fund of Rs. 14,000/- was utilized for the
same.

Extra-curricular activities: Students are encouraged to participate in inter college Sports
and cultural events organized by GTU. Inter class tournaments are being held. No
events this year due to COVID
