Guidelines for Distance Learning

Plan the video using a simple outline first. Write a script and practice reading it. Have a colleague review the script (or collaborate on it). Use a tripod to keep the camera stable. Carefully choose a location for filming with uncluttered background and all necessary props ready at hand. Ensure adequate lighting (in front of you and not behind you). Have someone help with the stopping and starting of the recording if possible.

Recommended video length: 2 - 5 minutes (maximum 10 minutes allowed) Recommended video size: 20 - 25 MBs ( maximum 1 GB allowed) Videos of at least 320x240 in resolution Agreed-upon video file naming protocol: Date-Subject-Class-Teacher.

Communicating to Students via Web

Teacher web pages should communicate lessons in a consistent manner matching the required component sections.

Have distinct sections or separate pages for each of the learning areas (ex Math, Reading, Writing, Specials). On each page, clearly distinguish activities by date posted. Indicate due date of all assignments. Explain how artifacts are to be handed in or otherwise communicated. Refer to documents, forum discussions, or external links by their exact titles. Encourage parents to download the following day’s videos the night before.
