SLOPE AND RETAINING WALL SYSTEMS

NAUE STEEL PDESCRIPTION

The NAUE STEEL P system combines Secu-grid® geogrid reinforcement with long-term (permanent) steel-skin facings tocreate reinforced earth structures amen-able to numerous slope shapes. Vegetationis allowed on slopes up to 70°. For stee-per slopes on which vegetation is desired, special plantings and irrigation are neces-sary. For NAUE STEEL P, the Secugrid® pri-mary reinforcement is fastened to the steelshells (e.g., L-shaped wire forms) to createa strong interface. To prevent soil erosionalong the galvanized steel facing, Secu-tex® nonwoven filter geotextiles or Secu-mat® erosion control mats are used. Thesystem is highly adaptable to project-spe-cific requirements and geometries, resul-ting in economical solutions supportingnatural vegetation.

Applications:- Landslide and slope restoration- Slope reinforcement of

gradients up to 90°- Vegetated slopes with gradients

between 45° and 70° - Embankment constructions- Road and rail noise barriers

System Components:- Secugrid® PET geogrid

reinforcement - Secumat® erosion control

mat and/or nonwoven Secu-tex® filter geotextile

- Fasteers- Hydroseeding- Galvanized steel facings

NAUE Secugrid® GeogridsSecugrid® geogrids are produced with anew dimension of manufacturing tech-nology. The reinforcement element is ahighly-oriented flat bar that is uniformlyextruded and drawn, ensuring a conti-nuous homogeneous molecular structure,to achieve a high modulus and highstrength at low elongations. The long-itudinal and transverse reinforcement bars are firmly joined with the NAUE-

patented welding technology to pro-vide a structurally sound and stable geo-grid for reinforcement applications. Secugrid® is used for base reinforcement, mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) wallconstruction including veneer stabilisa-tion, the segmental retaining wall (SRW) market, embankment reinforce-ment, load transfer platforms over pilecaps, sinkhole coverage, construction onsoft soils and other soil reinforcement applications.

Advantages:- Permanent stability even on slopes up to 90°- Green solution- High load capacity- Variable spacers allow site-specific slope face adjustment- Quick and easy construction- Site soils (including cohesive soils) can be used

- Extremely economical, due to the ability to utilise more-afford-able cohesive soils rather than dispose of or replace them withnon-cohesive soils

- Secugrid® geogrids can be used with cement- and lime-stabilized soils

- Ecological benefits associated with the use of local soils include decreased transportation pollution (and cost) and conservation of natural resources
