User Experience

Began as a pilot with 1,800 employees and became available to all employees in January 2011.

Cloud based service, but fully GM secure.

Accessible from anywhere

Employees with GM issued computers have Single-Sign-On.

First time users required to read and accept the Terms of Service which include GM’s Social Media Policy and ILM guidelines.

Users with access to the GM network can view the company stream.

To comment, users must be registered.

Full names are always disclosed.

No mobile app yet.

Inactive posts are auto deleted after 180 days

Attachments are not allowed yet

OverDrive on Mobile Devices

• Not app yet for mobile. Access is through Socrates with GMID login.

• Security concerns about non company mobile devices

• Logout after certain time and other issues being developed.

• Our Lotus Notes “traveller” has company password policies imposed on personal devices. (Fun killer on personal iPad).

• Optional is to use web based mail w no install on personal device. Downside: no alerts or reminders.
