Honolulu, Hawaii, Lodge 0001OUR MISSIONWoodmen exist to benefit our members through every stage of lifeWe provide valued financial solutionsEngaging our members in volunteer community serviceEnriching each and every one of their lives
In April, once again our lodge had the honor of partnering with Tchaikovsky Music Studio to perform for the
patients staying at Shriners Hospital. The children enjoyed a pizza lunch provided by the lodge and a smal
piano concert by the teachers
and students of TchaikovskyMusic Studio, performing
pieces from classic Disneymoments and other childrensfavorites. The patients were
also treated to drinks, grab
bags, and desserts. What a
heartfelt experience that wasfor all who participated!
Also in April, our lodge
partnered with Prevent Child
Abuse Hawaii to help assist
with the delivery of teddybears they collected at their
annual teddy bear drive. Thisyear at
Windward Mall they collectedover 9000 teddy bears and
stuffed animals. Our lodge
helped to deliver thousands of
teddy bears to numerous non-profit organizations around our
island. These organizations include: Kids Hurt Too, Keiki O
ka Aina/HIPPY program, Neighborhood Place of KalihiEPIC OHANA, Domestic Violence Action Center, June
Pires, Waianae Community Center, and directly to homeless
camps and shelters.
To commemorate our Join Hands Day, we joined/partnered
with several nonprofit organizations to have Woodmen ofthe World children's and informational booth in Chinatown
during the Cinco de Mayo festival. We featured information
about the Woodmen organization. Our childrens booth was
packed with arts and crafts activities (paper bag ponchos andhand puppets) along with games and prizes for the kids and

adults who attended. We were on KITV 4 news which broadcasted throughout the evening close to our booth.
(We were in the background) Thousands were in attendance and we were the only family booth catering to
children.
Our Lodge was very active during the month of
June as well. We participated in the Veteran's
Community Outreach program. Although our
donation was small it was well received andgreatly appreciated. Hundreds of volunteers
around the island reached out to veterans around
our communities to offer any assistance they
may need to improve their quality of life after
serving our country.
Because of our donation to the Veteran's
Outreach event, our Lodge was invited toparticipate in a Memorial Program held at the
VA Pacific Islands Health Care System Center
for Aging at the Tripler Army Medical Center. This program honored all those who have served our country butrecently passed. I had the honor and privilege of presenting a flag on behalf of Woodmen of the World to the
Acting Associate Director of the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System, Brandon Yamamoto. I was able to
educate and promote awareness to all who was present about the extraordinary things Woodmen of the World do
for our community and members!
Our Flag Day event was a huge success! Our Lodge donated flags to the USS Arizona Memorial, (Still waitingon confirmation if our flag we donated will be flown overthe memorial) Hickam Airforce Base, The State Capitol, to
Sharon Har House of Representatives, District 42 (
Kapolei, Makakilo ) Majority Whip, and to theGovernor of the state of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie!
Our Lodge also participated in a fundraiser for the
children of San Nicholas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines,to help with their dental, medical care, and school

expenses so that as many children
as possible would be able to
obtain an education and stayhealthy. Many dignitaries were
also in attendance and we gained
several new Woodmen membersbecause of ties to this event!
To close our month, our Lodge
enjoyed fun in the sun time with
our Managers and FieldRepresentatives. Everyone bought
a dish to share, played games
pertaining to our organization
won prizes, bonded, andbrainstormed on ways we can
improve our Lodge's growth and
success! We displayed our bannerfor thousands of beach goers to
see at Ala Moana Beach Park. What an enjoyable event that was!
Our National Convention in Florida is around the corner and Nancy Ortiz, our Lodge's Vice President waschosen to represent us here in Hawaii. We want to congratulate her and wish her the best in Florida.
