• The Ministry of Culture of Lithuania – responsible for developing the library policy in the country;

• The Library Council of Lithuania.

Funding opportunities:

• Investment projects, international programs;

• Lithuanian Council for Culture - projects and scholarships.

Challenges for Lithuanian Libraries

Library Network Optimization:

• Libraries transformation, high school interconnection, new serviceforms and services search, making use of library spaces;

• Unequal/low salaries;

• Librarians generation change (averege age of librarians – 50, lack ofnew professionals).

• Founded in 1931. IFLA member since 1936;

• 2413 individual members, 78 sections;

• 15 board members;

• Young specialists section, 32 members.
