WEBSITE DOWN
Our apologies regarding the school website which has not been
accessible for most of this week. Our website host is the Sponsor
Ed Group and temporarily, they have pulled down all of their
websites owing to some issues they have experienced earlier this
week. We’re uncertain as to how much longer we will have to wait
before our school‘s website goes live again. In the meanwhile, we
have provided a hard copy of this week’s Linkletter to keep parents
informed.
MAINTENANCE WORKS UPDATE
Works continue this week and progress is definitely being made. The painters are
busy in several classrooms, new heaters are being installed, light fittings replaced
and so on. For several days now, we haven’t had gas heating so we’ve shivered a
bit here and there but sensibly, everyone seems to have been well prepared for
cooler weather without heating. We’re hopeful that our new heaters and the rest of
the schools heating system will be up and running by the beginning of next week, if not tomorrow
at some stage. Our apologies to everyone for this unavoidable interruption to our gas supply to
classrooms. How envious we have been of those rooms where they have reverse cycle air cons &
heaters! It certainly has been wonderful to see such a high level of cooperation and team work
from everyone as we go about our daily work as the onsite workers go about their work also. This
week we have had to shuffle the grade 5 and 6 classes in and out of their classrooms as heater
works have been undertaken in each of their rooms. It’s terrific to see how readily staff and
students accommodate short notice and short term changes, just taking everything in their stride.
SCHOOL TOURS AND INFORMATION ABOUT GK
For several weeks now, we’ve been running tours and providing information to prospective
families, mostly for prep children starting school in 2015. On a very wet Tuesday evening this
week, we hosted an “All About GK” evening for interested and prospective families. The
attendance was very good in spite of the weather. It’s always a pleasure to meet with prospective
families and share information about our school. Thank you to Angela Totino, our Kinder-Prep
Coordinator for organising & running the information session along with prep colleagues Sarah
Bywater, Jess Smith and Libby Downey. Thank you also to our specialist teachers David
Blackburn, Loretta Simmonds, Annmarie Webb and Merrin Tunnecliffe who also came along and
gave an overview of their programs. Our School Captains Lauren S, Ebony B, Nathan W and
Lachlan S also came along and assisted the teachers and we thank them for their terrific effort
also. Our PFA was also represented by Carol Kovacic, our Welcome Committee Convenor who
was on hand with a warm refreshment. Thank you Carol. A great team effort everyone!
