02Networking on Linked-In
• Existing Contacts (search and invite)• ALWAYS change the default invitation. • Start a group that will benefit your targeted
customer. (Join those too.)• Pose questions, and answer questions.• Create events. • Connect with people you meet…
02Building Your Network
• Understand the concept of connections.• Post updates weekly; update your status,
respond to connections, invite new connections.
• Search linked-in frequently for what you need. Learn to use it.
02Using Linked-In
• LI = professional credibility• Home base to keep your name in front of
your network• Marketing platform (if your customers are
on the platform)• Training wheels for a website or blog
02Linked-In / Your Social Media Mix
• The medium is not the message! • The MESSAGE is the message – cross-
platform.• Make your message:
• Emergent!• Action-oriented!• Conversational!
02Avoid “Tool-itis”
• Focus on the sweet spot where you meet the customer’s core need.
• 75% or more of your message should be about your customer. It’s not about you!
• Be honest with yourself about your marketing status: gaps will become chasms when exposed 24/7
02Distill it down
• Use social tools to increase your clarity. Listen to yourself.
• Take feedback seriously – is anyone listening? Measure.
• Be open. • Manage your time. LI = 1-2 times per
week.• Commit no matter what.
02Making it Social
• Be honest, too, about how deeply sourced your work is.
• Now might be the time to retool if you feel tired or uninspired.
• A business that communicates well online has 3 kinds of potential.
• Grow or shrink….financial crossroads.
