Crossing Keeper’s Training Objective Introduction Welcome to Lingwood Station Rd This is your training plan to assist you in becoming a competent professional Crossing Keeper within the Network Rail operations fraternity. The objectives have been set out to give a clear and unequivocal direction for you to follow. This will ensure that you have the opportunity to learn all aspects of signalling that are relevant to you at this location. The objective of this plan is to guide you through the various stages of competency that you will need to achieve in order to meet all the requirements of the company standard. Your training will consist of you being placed with a fully competent crossing keeper at this location on a roster pattern agreed with your Manager. You will be issued or given access to the following:

- Objective Plan (section 2) - Daily Objective Record Sheets (section 3) - Knowledge & Understanding information (section 4) - Specific Location knowledge questions (section 5)

You will be expected to complete the objectives set and retain any evidence that is required. You must ensure that all completed work is collected and submitted to your Manager for review and to be added or mapped to your training portfolio. You will also learn the Special Instructions and Rules and Regulations that apply specifically at this location. It is anticipated that there may be the opportunity for on site visits and cab rides to give you a better understanding of how the signalling related equipment looks and operates on the ground in the area that your location covers and the adjacent areas. It will be your responsibility to meet all the demands of the objectives in a timely manner. If there are any factors that stop you meeting these objectives you must advise your Manager at your review meetings or sooner if necessary. This is to ensure that any changes that are required to your training plan are completed in a timely manner to ensure your continuous learning is not interrupted unnecessarily. Good luck!

TRAINEE CROSSING KEEPER’S OBJECTIVE RECORD You (the trainee Crossing Keeper) must complete an objective record sheet for each turn of duty that you complete at the location. The requirements of your objectives are laid out in Section 2 of this training plan and you are expected to complete the objective(s) during your turns of duty in the location. The objective record sheets should contain details of routine and non-routine work carried out during that turn of duty. Additional blank sheets are provided should you require more writing space. You may complete the sheets during your shift whilst events are fresh in your mind or at the end of your shift which ever you find easier, however each sheet must be completed before you leave the location at the end of your turn of duty and as such you should ensure you allow sufficient time at the end of each turn of duty to allow you to achieve this. You should advise your trainer how you intend to complete your objective sheets. These objective record sheets should be used to record your actions while you are on duty at the location. Your Manager will require these completed sheets as evidence to demonstrate your successful completion of each training module. They will also be used as evidence for your Crossing Keeper’s competence assessment portfolio that you will also be required to complete.
