The film celebrates Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his election as President of South Africa. It explores the Mandela unknown to most of the world - the lover of fast cars and women, the boxing enthusiast and playboy, the skilful lawyer and the gun-toting freedom fighter - an intimate portrait of the making of a modern icon.

Philomena is based on the true story of one mother’s search for her lost son.
Falling pregnant as a teenager in Ireland in 1952, Philomena Lee was sent to the convent of Roscrea to be looked after as a “fallen woman”. When her baby was only a toddler, he was taken away by the nuns for adoption in America. Philomena spent the next fifty years searching for him in vain.
Then she met Martin Sixsmith, a world-weary journalist as cynical as Philomena was trusting. Together they set off for America on a journey that would not only reveal the extraordinary story of Philomena’s son, but also create an unexpectedly close bond between Philomena and Martin. It is a compelling narrative of human love and loss that ultimately celebrates life. Coogan has described the film as “A comic tragedy or a tragic comedy. It’s about two very different people, at different stages of their lives, who help each other and show that there is laughter even in the darkest places.” The Lost Child Of Philomena Lee was published in 2009; it acted as a catalyst for thousands of adopted Irish children and their ‘shamed’ mothers to come forward and tell their stories. Many are still searching for their lost families.

Alexandre Taillard de Vorms is tall and impressive, a man with style, attractive to women. He also happens to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the land of enlightenment: France. With his silver mane and tanned, athletic body, he stalks the world stage, from the floor of the United Nations in New York to the powder keg of Oubanga. There, he calls on the powerful and invokes the mighty to bring peace, to calm the trigger-happy, and to cement his aura of Nobel Peace Prize winner-in-waiting. Alexandre Taillard de Vorms is a force to be reckoned with, waging his own war backed up by the holy trinity of diplomatic concepts: legitimacy, lucidity and efficacy. He takes on American neo-cons, corrupt Russians and money-grabbing Chinese. Perhaps the world doesn’t deserve France’s magnanimousness, but his art would be wasted if just restricted to home turf.
Enter the young Arthur Vlaminck, graduate of the elite National School of Administration, who is hired as head of “language” at the foreign ministry. In other words, he is to write the minister’s speeches. But he also has to learn to deal with the sensibilities of the boss and his entourage, and find his way between the private secretary and the special advisors who stalk the corridors of the Quai d’Orsay – the ministry’s home – where stress, ambition and dirty dealing are the daily currency. But just as he thinks he can influence the fate of the world, everything seems threatened by the inertia of the technocrats.

Paul is in his thirties and lives in a Paris apartment with his aunts, a pair of elderly aristocrats who have raised him since the age of two, and who dream of him becoming a piano virtuoso. His life boils down to a daily routine spent at the grand piano in the salon, and his aunts’ dance classes where he works as an accompanist. Cut off from the outside world, Paul has grown old without ever having lived.
That is, until the day he meets Madame Proust, a neighbor who lives on the fourth floor. This eccentric lady knows how to make a herbal infusion which, when combined with music, can stir the most repressed of memories.
Thanks to her, Paul will discover the secret of his own past, and find the key to finally unlock his life.

ENEMY tells the story of a university lecturer named Adam (Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal) who is nearing the end of a relationship with his girlfriend Mary (Mélanie Laurent).
One night, while watching a film, Adam spots a minor actor who looks just like him. Consumed by the desire to meet his double, Adam tracks down Anthony, an actor living with his pregnant wife Helen (Sarah Gadon) and engages him in a complex and dangerous struggle.
The film is a haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity, where in the end only one man will survive.

Julien is 17, has a great sense of humor, bags of charm, and is wheelchair-bound due to cerebral palsy.
Despite their love for him, his family is gradually falling apart under the strain of dealing with his disability. In a bid to bond with his father, Julien challenges him to participate with him in the Ironman race in Nice (French Riviera), a triathlon in which his father has previously competed.
This trial is already exceptional, but it becomes almost impossible if one has to help a disabled youth throughout the course. Beyond the sporting exploit, this is the story of one family’s exemplary combat, and a moving portrait of the love between a father and his son.

ROCK THE CASBAH is a bittersweet comedy that plays out around a funeral. Over the three days of mourning called for by Moroccan tradition, the family gathers in the deceased’s villa to look back on their memories and share the loss of the dearly departed father and husband. It’s summer, but the beach is out of bounds and bathing suits are swapped for djellabas as the mainly female household comes together in a show of grief and anguish.
But when the youngest daughter Sofia arrives, sparks start to fly. She left to start a new life in America against her father’s wishes, becoming an actress. But she only ever lands roles as terrorists in TV series. Her return to the family home is the occasion to settle a few scores. Secrets come out, throwing the order once maintained by the patriarch into turmoil. Between tears and laughter, a collective hysteria leads each of the women to face up to some home truths.

Indifferent and seductive, Rome offers itself up to the astonished eyes of tourists; it is summer and the city shines with a beauty that is elusive and definitive.
Jep Gambardella is 65 and his character emanates a charm that time has not ravaged. He is a successful journalist who flits between culture and the high life in a Rome that never ceases being a sanctuary of wonder and greatness.Behind the decadence and decay of reality, the city continues to preserve a hidden and sometimes desperate beauty.

Based on prolific actor and all-round polymath James Franco’s first book of short stories, Palo Alto immerses us in the lives
of a number of teenagers living in the eponymous Californian city. The narratives that entwine through this observant and
occasionally alarming film reflect events from Franco’s own adolescence, yet they speak to any generation, with kids drawn
toward vice for its own sake, seeking some combination of cheap thrills and meaningful connection. The film starts with
Fred (Nat Wolff) driving a car into a wall on purpose. That’s not the craziest thing Fred will do.
Among Palo Alto’s complicated characters is Teddy (Jack Kilmer, whose father Val makes a highly memorable cameo
appearance). We see Teddy drive drunk and become moronically obnoxious with a police officer; later, when he’s logging
community-service hours at a local library, he is tender and curious. Palo Alto’s most sympathetic character is April (Emma
Roberts), a babysitter who has an affair with her employer, Mr. B. (Franco), also the school football coach. April clearly has
good sense, but how can a teenager be expected not to fall in love when an older, charming man showers her with affection?

PRIDE is an inspirational comedy based on remarkable true events.
It’s the summer of 1984 – Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. But there is a problem. The Union seems embarrassed to receive their support.
But the activists are not deterred. They decide to ignore the Union and go direct to the miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini bus to make their donation in person. And so begins the extraordinary story of the relationship that develops between two wholly different communities who come to realise that they are in fact just the same – decent people trying to live a decent life.
By the summer of 1985, the strike is over and Thatcher has won. But the spirit of community has not been broken. The NUM and its brass bands turn up in London to lead the Gay Pride March in a triumphant show of solidarity.

1720. After the wreck of his ships, a financially-ruined merchant exiles himself in the countryside with his six children. Among them is Beauty, his youngest daughter, a joyful girl full of grace. One day, during an arduous journey, the merchant stumbles across the magical domain of the Beast, who sentences him to death for stealing a rose.
Feeling responsible for the terrible fate which has befallen her family, Beauty decides to sacrifice herself and take her father’s place. At the Beast’s castle, it is not death that awaits Beauty, but a strange life in which fantastical moments mingle with gaiety and melancholy. Every night, at dinner, Beauty and the Beast sit down together.
They learn about each other, taming one another like two strangers who are total opposites. When she has to repulse his amorous advances, Beauty tries to pierce the mysteries of the Beast and his domain. And when night falls, the Beast’s past is revealed to her bit by bit in her dreams. It is a tragic story, which tells her that this solitary and fearsome being was once a majestic prince. Armed with her courage, ignoring every danger, and opening her heart, Beauty manages to release the Beast from his curse. And in doing so, she discovers true love.

Romain Faubert is alone going on 40, has no wife and no children. His profession as a photographer for an online medical dictionary does nothing to alleviate his acute hypochondria, which for too long has been the ruling element in his life, reducing him to a bundle of fear and neuroses. The internet elicits compulsive Google searches that start out with little aches and pains and inevitably wind up with results on metastasized cancer. This does little to assuage his phobias about germs and disease.
His one and only friend is his general practitioner, Dr. Dimitri Zvenka, who upon first meeting Romain made the fatal error of actually liking him a state of affairs he now bitterly regrets. Romains psychosomatic problems are an endless source of trouble and Dimitri would give anything to get rid of him once and for all, especially now that he has become quite the intrusive patient. Romain often invites himself to sleep over at Dimitri’s house, which is really starting to get on the nerves of the doctor’s wife.
However, Dr. Zvenka thinks he’s found a remedy, one that will usher Romain Faubert out the door forever - help him find the woman of his dreams. He invites him to parties, signs him up for online dating, gets him to work out and even coaches him on his seduction techniques and ways to interact with women. But finding that rare jewel, someone who can tolerate his idiosyncrasies and who, out of love, will help him overcome his hypochondria, turns out to be more of a challenge than it first seemed.

There is something strange - some would even say abnormal - about the Malaussène family. But if you take a closer look, no one could be happier than this cheerfully chaotic family, even though their mother is usually off on one romantic adventure or another.
Life is never a bore for Benjamin Malaussène, professional scapegoat and the older brother responsible for this horde of kids. But when incidents happen wherever he goes, police and colleagues begin to eye him suspiciously.
It soon becomes a matter of life and death to find out what is going on and who is so interested in ruining his life.

In an upscale Paris neighborhood, Maria and José Ribeiro have lived for nearly 30 years in the cozy little concierge’s apartment on the ground floor of a handsome 19th century building.
This Portuguese émigré couple is universally liked: Maria is a diligent housekeeper, and José is a skilled handyman. Over the years, they’ve become an indispensable part of the daily lives of those around them. They are so highly appreciated and well integrated, that when they have a chance to fulfill their dream to return to Portugal and live a comfortable life, nobody wants to see the Ribeiros leave. Just how far will their family, their neighbors and their employers go to hold them back? And deep down, do Maria and José really want to quit France and flee their gilded cage?

“Having broken away from my illusory self, I was desperately seeking a path and a meaning to life.” This phrase perfectly sums up Alejandro Jodorowsky’s biographical project: reconstituting the incredible adventure of his life.Alejandro Jodorowsky was born in 1929 in Tocopilla, a coastal town on the edge of the Chilean desert, where this film was shot. It was there where he discovered the fundamentals of reality, as he underwent an unhappy and alienated childhood as part of an uprooted family. This film is an exercise in imaginary autobiography – not in the sense of fiction, because all the characters, places and events are real, but in the sense that the guiding principle of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s life has been a constant effort to expand his imagination, to push back its limits, and to grasp the potential for transformation which lies within us all.

The story of MARIUS takes place in the Old Port of Marseille, in the Bar de la Marine run by César and his son Marius. Fanny, a pretty young woman who sells shellfish outside the bar, has been secretly in love with Marius since childhood. But Marius has always dreamed of embarking on one of the ships that sail past the bar, heading off to distant horizons.
When Marius is due to leave on an exploration vessel, Fanny tries to hold him back by revealing her love for him, at which point he realizes he loves her back. She succeeds in fanning his jealousy by provoking a fight between Marius and the sea captain Panisse, an old friend of César’s, who, despite being much older than Fanny, is enamored with her.
Torn between the call of the ocean and his love for Fanny, Marius renounces his plan to leave and throws his lot in with her. But while César and Fanny’s mother Honorine are happy at the prospect of them marrying, Marius is once more seized by his passion for the sea. Eventually, Fanny sacrifices herself out of love for him, and encourages Marius to set sail. Left abandoned, the distraught Fanny holds back her tears and conceals his departure from César.

Fanny loves Marius and is expecting his child, but he has abandoned her and run away to sea without knowing about the baby. She finds herself facing the dishonorable position of being an unmarried mother, unable to provide for herself and the child. So, with the approval of her mother, and for the sake of the baby’s future, she agrees to marry a prosperous shopkeeper on the old port, Honoré Panisse.
He is 30 years older than she, but he recognizes the child and raises it as his own. Panisse provides them with a certain standard of living, social respectability and a comfortable future.
Meanwhile, Marius has finally become aware of his profound love for Fanny during his long voyage. Despite having no career, he returns home to win back Fanny’s affections and take responsibility for his child. Despite her enduring love for him, Fanny and Marius’s father César convince him to stay out of her life, for the sake of the child’s future and the honor of the Panisse family.

JAPPELOUP
Jappeloup is a true story about tenacity, disobedience, disillusion, friendship, family bonds, courage and... ultimately victory.
Jappeloup was a horse that was deemed too small to become a champion. Pierre Durand was a show jumper who lost faith in his own destiny. Together, the rider and the horse, rode triumphantly into show jumping history, their relationship being often as chaotic as a show jumping course itself - with elements of betrayal, loyalty and love. The duo suffered a crushing defeat at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when, in mid-competition, Jappeloup stalled and threw his rider over one of the obstacles. The story could very well have ended there with public humiliation in a global arena.
Pierre Durand very nearly withdrew from show jumping altogether and would have if it wasn’t for the support of his wife and father, and Jappeloup’s groom Raphaëlle’s unwavering faith in this small but exceptional horse. Pierre Durand eventually started afresh, reconciled with Jappeloup and placed himself firmly on the road to victory. Together they finally triumphed four years later in Seoul and became Olympic gold medal champions. Pierre Durand’s “small” black horse is now considered as one of the greatest show jumping horses of all time.
Guillaume Canet, one of the most talented actors of his generation, and himself an exceptional show jumper, wrote the screenplay and portrays Pierre Durand. He embodies this gripping adventure which mirrors his own personal story.
