At the North end of Nepean Bay, two towns were surveyed close together. The north town was named Kingscote & the south one Queenscliffe. The south town developed but the north one did not. From the early 1900s Queenscliffe came to be known as Kingscote, but was not officially renamed Kingscote until the early 1940s. Because of the above, photos taken of the “Queenscliffe Jetty” are actually of the original Kingscote jetty.
