Unlike heritage speaker instructors, Contract MLIs learned from an American perspective (as have active duty MLIs), thus inspiring students as living proof that difficult languages are not impossible to learn in a short span.

However, Contract MLI selection dictates higher qualifications than active duty MLIs so Contract MLIs can also mentor active duty MLIs. Contract MLIs have translated at the highest levels.

Contract MLIs exceed all requirements with unique qualifications representing the DoD’s most elite.

Score of 3/3/3 or 3/3/2+ on the DLPT.

All are college grads, some have earned or are pursuing postgraduate degrees.

All have experience in key leader positions such as 1SG, Plt Sgt, Operations NCOIC, or Superintendent of Training.
