ANZAC DAY is a national day of remembrance observed on the 25th April in Australia and New

Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all

wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have

served"

MĀORI BATTALION

Close to 16,000 Maori registered for service and served with distinction both at home and abroad. Most

served in areas such as home defence, artillery, engineering and service corps, but it is the 20% that

served in the famous 28th (Maori) Battalion that is perhaps best remembered. These men established a

formidable reputation as one of New Zealand’s finest fighting forces.

We give thanks to all our soldiers both past and present for their amazing contribution to Aotearoa New

Zealand.

Mā te atua kia koutou e manaaki e tiaki.

Dying you Destroyed our Death…..song from Easter1. Stay here and watch and pray with me

My sorrow is great but God's will must be done

The time has come, the hour is now

Sealed with a kiss, and left all alone

Dying, you destroyed our death

Rising, you restore our life

Lord Jesus, come in glory

2. Gathered against me and calling for my death

"Are you the Son of God?" I said, "So you say"

Guilty of nothing, yet sentenced to die

I came to bring truth, to speak your word today.

Dying, you destroyed our death

Rising, you restore our life

Lord Jesus, come in glory

3. Stripped of my clothes, my life mocked away

So many standing near, but all so far apart

Cry not for me but cry for yourselves

My cross is so heavy, yet more is my heart

Dying, you destroyed our death

Rising, you restore our life

Lord Jesus, come in glory

4. Day turned to night, the light turned to black

"Why," I cried, "have you left me all alone?"

My own light fading, I turned back to you

Into your hands my God, my Spirit came home

Dying, you destroyed our death

Rising, you restore our life

Lord Jesus, come in glory

Loving God we call upon you. May all who have suffered and died in All the wars find eternal rest and peace. May they know the glory of the risen christ along with all who die. We pray for world peace …... a peace that starts in our own hearts.
