DESCRIPTION

This was a presentation given by George Mokhtar and Natacha Redon of Turner and Townsend (Newcastle offices) on Thursday 4th November. What do project managers need to consider when implementing BIM in projects following design appointment? The market focus during the past year has primarily been on the benefits of BIM. Not a tool but rather a process, BIM focuses on early stage strategic definitions and decisions. What do you do, however, when the client decides to implement it when the design has already started and appointments have been made without the requirement for BIM having been considered? Turner & Townsend, project and cost managers, has been acting as BIM leaders through a variety of projects. They face varied challenges (whether by the nature of the project, the client requirements, or the project life-cycle stage) when engaging with the BIM leaders or their stakeholders. The presenters gave an overview of projects they have been engaged with and share lessons learned from the challenges encountered.
