OBJECTIVES: at the end of 45 minutes the

students are able to: Define narcotics Discuss the different kinds

of narcotics and their medical uses.

Analyze the ill effect of narcotics abuse to one’s self, ones family, and the community.

To Family – neglected responsibilities, difficulty to keep a job, financial difficulty due to cost of rehabilitation, shame and embarrassment to other family members, disorganized and unhappy family

To Community – increase incidence of crime, occurrence of different kinds of accidents, presence of rampant stealing, economic destabilization due to less manpower

Break the HabitDrug addiction is a bad habit that is hard to

break due to physical and psychological dependence on the drug. The more serious effects of drug addiction are conditions such as

Tolerance – the ability to resist the effects of drugs over a period of time, shown by increasing the dose again and again even when large doses no longer bring the feeling of well-being.

Withdrawal Syndrome – experienced by a person who is physically dependent on drugs and abruptly stops taking them. The person . Within the first 12 to 16 hrs after the drug is withdrawn the person becomes increasingly restless, anxious and weak with some shaking of the arms and legs. On the third day of withdrawal convulsions may occur and the effect is far more dangerous.

Responsible Decisions Set a good example yourself Have a clear understanding on how

drugs can interfere with physical and emotional development.

Learn to abide what the school teaches about drugs.

ASSIGNMENT

Create 4 groups, each group should compose a jingle about narcotics. Present the jingle before the class starts.
