Progettati per arredare gli uffici della Fondation Cartier a Parigi, i mobili dellaserie Less esprimono compiutamente i caratteri distintivi dell’architettura diJean Nouvel, evidenziando con chiarezza gli elementi stilistici che contraddi-stinguono il suo lavoro: il rigore compositivo, la ricerca sui materiali, lo studiodei colori, l’uso di una tecnologia sempre presente e mai esibita. La leggerezzaquasi evanescente della costruzione in acciaio e cristallo è riproposta nel dise-gno essenziale degli elementi di arredo: tavoli, contenitori e librerie si concre-tizzano in solide strutture metalliche, definite da linee pulite, superfici lisce eprofili contenuti. Un sistema modulare pensato per abitare i luoghi contempo-ranei del lavoro (ma non solo).
Designed to furnish the offices of the Cartier Foundation in Paris, the distin-guishing features of Jean Nouvel’s designs are fully evident in the Less series,which encompasses the stylistic elements characteristic of his work: the struc-tural simplicity, the originality of materials, the color combinations, the use oftechnology, always there but never intrusive. The almost evanescent lightnessof the steel and glass structure reappears in the clear-cut shapes of the furni-ture: tables, containers and bookcases are formed of solid metal structures,with clean lines, smooth surfaces and slender profiles. A modern system de-signed to create a familiar modern work environment (and much more).
Nato da un’architettura e per un’architettura, Less definisce un nuovo concettodi ufficio, caratterizzato da leggerezza formale, elevate prestazioni tecniche egrande qualità ambientale. Uno spazio funzionale dove la tecnologia non è in-vasiva. Un sistema di arredi costruito con elementi semplici e lineari. Realizza-to con materiali resistenti e forme ridotte a puro segno. Volumi essenziali chedisegnano lo spazio ufficio contemporaneo. Silenziose presenze immaterialiche definiscono con rigorosa semplicità un ambiente di lavoro sobrio, raziona-le e autorevole, ma privo di retorica. Un paesaggio urbano descritto da esilistrutture architettoniche.
Born from architecture for architecture, Less defines a new concept of the of-fice, characterized by formal lightness, high technical performance and highenvironmental quality. Il tavolo si configura come unastruttura monolitica integralmenterealizzata in metallo; le gambesono costituite da barre in acciaiosagomate a L, mentre il piano di lavoro è interamente eseguitoin lamiera piegata, ottenutaattraverso accurate lavorazioniindustriali. Gambe e piano sonoassemblati mediante unparticolare sistema di fissaggioche assicura elevate prestazionitecniche e di sicurezza. Disponibile sia rettangolare che
quadrato, in diverse dimensioni e due altezze, il tavolo può essereutilizzato come scrivania, inversione direzionale o postazioneoperativa, anche nellaconfigurazione a L, con pianodattilo aggregato, oppure cometavolo per riunioni. The table appears to be a monolithic structure, entirelymade in metal; the legs are madefrom L-shaped steel bars, whilethe work surface is made entirelyfrom folded sheet steel, obtainedfrom a specific industrialmachining process. The legs andtop are assembled using a specialfastening system that guaranteesthe highest technical and safetystandards. The table is available bothrectangular and square, in various
sizes and in two heights, and can be used as a desk, in theexecutive version, or as a workstation, in the L-shapedconfiguration, with built-inextension, or as a table formeetings. All of the metalcomponents are treated withspecial durable paint, and arelight gray or in customized colorson request.

Il carrello di supporto per le attrezzature informatiche e multimediali è dotato di particolari meccanismi di rotazione e regolazione deipiani di appoggio (anche con leapparecchiature già posizionate)e di speciali ruote che assicurano elevate prestazioni di stabilità e sicurezza; inoltre, la struttura è predisposta per il passaggio e l’alloggiamento dei cavi di alimentazione. L’armadio girevole su base fissa è accessibile su due lati. Il particolare meccanismo

The cart designed to holdcomputer and multimediaequipment has specialmechanisms for rotating andadjusting the platform (even withthe equipment in place) andspecial wheels that guarantee theutmost stability and safety; theunit also has a provision forcables to be reticulated internally.The revolving cabinet on a fixedbase can be accessed from twosides. The special openingmechanism of the doors (that rotate and slide sideways)has been designed to exploit the
full potential of the cabinet’sdouble-depth. The metal drawer pedestal on wheels can be used in twodifferent ways; the hinged door at the back provides easy accessto a space dedicated to handlingequipment cables.All of the metal components aretreated with special hard-wearingpaint.

The bookcase is formed of slender L-shaped steeluprights, to which the thin foldedsheet metal shelves are securelyfastened. Produced in differentlengths and heights (two, three or four shelves) the bookcase is available in the library version,completely open, and in a storagecontainer version, closed
by hinged doors which, onceopen, transform into functionalwork surfaces for consultation. All of the metal components aretreated with special hard-wearingpaint, in a light gray color, or incustomized colors on request.

New edition of the table and bookcase, reinterpreted with selected materials,and original construction details. A coherent evolution of the original projectobtained through the use of sophisticated technology and skilful industrialmachining processes. Structures in polished anodized aluminum featuringan exclusive surface with a natural wood insert. A further touch of elegancethat does not effect the design’s lightness and simplicity of form, highlightingthe distinguishing features of a new direction, in which more attention isdrawn to exquisite detail and finishing. The table is entirely made frompolished anodized aluminumcomponents: the legs are madefrom L-shaped elements, whilethe work surface is made entirelyfrom folded metal, obtained fromhigh-precision industrialprocesses that enables a stratifiedpanel of precious natural wood to be inserted. The exclusive
process used to finish the worksurface, together with thetreatment used to polish thesurface of the aluminum structuredistinguishes the new design of the table, which preserves thecharacteristic traits of the originaldesign.
