Waiting Againhellip
What are you waiting for
-that great job to come along that elusive perfect relationship a text message
from a friend -an end to your pain -the restoration of a friendship -a refund
check -a new certification -a vacation or family visit hellipLike it or not all of us
wait
Advent is the Churchrsquos season of waiting Its name comes from the Latin ad-
ventus and means coming (The biblical Greek word is parousia) Because we
have been claimed in Christ we long for the day of Christrsquos coming again It has
been the abiding hope of the church since the earliest days More than getting
ready for Christmas we wait the coming of Godrsquos Messiah with anticipation
confidence and hope
One author put it this way
ldquoWaiting is essential to the spiritual life But waiting as a disciple of Je-
sus is not an empty waiting It is waiting with a promise in our hearts that
makes already present what we are waiting for We wait during Advent for
the birth of Jesus We wait after Easter for the coming of the Spirit and after
the Ascension of Jesus we wait for his coming again in glory We are always
waiting in the conviction that we have already seen Godrsquos footsteps
Waiting for God is an active alert -- yes joyful -- waiting As we wait we
remember him for whom we are waiting and as we remember him we create
a community ready to welcome him when he comesrdquo[1]
Please join the congregation in worship as we rekindle our anticipation our
hope our joy Letrsquos train our lives and hearts on what makes all our waiting
worthwhile
See you in worship
Warmly

The Christmas Joy Offering celebrates
the coming of Jesus Christ the ldquowondrous
giftrdquo of God with us Jesus arrived in a
humble stable in small insignificant
Bethlehem to lead and teach in truth and
love and bring about Godrsquos salvation to
the world What a wondrous gift indeed
This was a gift so profound that the only
response was the bringing of more gifts
The Magi arrived with gold frankincense
and myrrh to honor the Christ child
Devoted and caring leaders have led
many of us in the way of Christ They
have been church workers equipping us to
respond to the grace we have known in
Jesus Christ and they have been Godrsquos
gifts among us As we celebrate Christrsquos
coming and think of the profound impact
these individuals have had on us the
Christmas Joy Offering provides a way for
us to offer a gift in response Gifts to the
Christmas Joy Offering will raise up
leaders from small places that are too
often overlooked by the church The
historically Presbyterian racial ethnic
schools were founded to educate emerging
leaders from underrepresented groups so
leadership in the church would better
reflect the diversity of Godrsquos people
Half of the Christmas Joy Offering
supports the continued ministry of
educating and forming Christian leaders
The other half of the Offering honors
those leaders who serve and have served
us well Through the Assistance Program
of the Board of Pensions current and
retired church workers who experience
need because of tragedy health concerns
or financial hardship can receive
assistance from the church they have
served so well
In gratitude to God for the wondrous
gift of Jesus the Presbyterian Church
(USA) invites congregations to join this
celebration of Godrsquos presence with us by
supporting those in need of help and hope
Our church will observe the Christmas Joy
Offering through the season of Advent
You will find special envelopes in the
pews and in your offering envelope box
Please be in prayer for this offering

(OSI) on a Mercy Mission Team to
Mexico City December 29 2016 to

City area will also be with us
OSI was established in 1983 as a non
-denominational mission organization
The vision of OSI is motivating and
mobilizing concerned Christians to
reach the poor in places that are under-
served and to strengthen existing min-
istries in their own presentation of the
Gospel The ministry of OSI is con-
cerned for all people those who know
Christ and those who do not
Clinics used to be held in a number
of Garbage Dumps as well as
Community Centers and churches
Since all the Garbage Dumps have
been closed in Mexico City the focus
has shifted to partnering with churches
for 2 to 3 day clinics This has been a
great benefit to neighborhoods in get-
ting to know the church its members
and ministries as well as providing
health care The churches are telling
of growth in numbers and changed
lives due to the presence of the clinics
Please pray for health safety in
travel unity among team members and
positive experiences with the people

fees her green card was approved too
The first week of January 2016 after
two years of fighting for my case and
fighting a deportation order my green
card was approved
The only application that wasnrsquot
filed yet was Camilarsquos I was worried
because I didnrsquot have the way to pay
for Camiliarsquos fees to be able to adjust
her status But again a miracle
happened Camila made a Go Fund Me
account and in less than three days
members of this community and this
wonderful congregation put together
the $1850 needed to file her
paperwork In April Camilarsquos paper-
work was finally accepted by immigra-
tion and in September I received the
letter form USCIS saying that Camilarsquos
green card was approved I was crying
of happiness
All of you made this miracle
possible because of your help we are
not afraid anymore that an immigration
officer is going to knock on our door
and try to take our family from this
country
Because of your help our family now
can dream of a better life in this
wonderful country
I want to thank you for advocating
for my family to stay in the United
States
Until now we were only Americans
in our hearts but now as a result of the
help of this church this congregation
and the Fredericksburg community our
dream is one step closer the dream of
one day to become a citizen of the
United Sates of America As a mother
from the bottom of my heart I want to
thank you for making this dream come
true
I want to thank you for being a
strong advocate of the families in need
in the City of Fredericksburg Your
support makes a difference
A Word of Thanks
The following article was presented by Andrea Ilardia
as a stewardship moment in October 2016
On Christmas Eve 2010 my friend Tammy Hancock
invited us to attend the Christmas Eve service here at
this this church On that day I had no idea of the
impact this Church was going to have on my family
Since the first day I was amazed by the way our
church was involved in the community by the
commitment of the members of the church to help eve-
ryone who was in need Helping through a diversity of
programs like the Community Dinners Micah Food
Pantry School Dressing Days and many of the other
programs that this church has to help the families in our
area who are struggling to survive Most of the time
the only food these families get are what they receive
through the Food Pantry or through the Community
Dinners Many of the kids in our area are able to have
new clothes and school supplies thanks to School
Dressing Days Many people without a home are able
to survive the winter because of the support this church
gives to the homeless winter shelter Through theses
programs our church makes a big difference in the lives
of families in need
I know this for a fact because my family is one of the
families that received help
As many of you know when I started to attend this
church I was in the middle of a battle with the
Department of Homeland Security to stay in this
country The immigration laws are very complicated I
knew that I was going to need a miracle to be able to
stay in this country I firmly believe that God had a
plan for us he put my family in the Fredericksburg
community and in this wonderful church for a reason
This congregation many members of this community
and the Fredericks burg City Schools have been helping
us since the beginning
Because of your support writing letters to immigra-
tion signing petitions contacting congressmen and
senators advocating for us helping us when I didnrsquot
have a way to provide for my family
giving us strength when I thought that
everything was lost All this unconditional
support made this miracle finally possible
In September 2015 Belenrsquos green
card was approved in January 2016
and after the help this community
gave to pay for Florsquos immigration

fees her green card was approved too
The first week of January 2016 after
two years of fighting for my case and
fighting a deportation order my green
card was approved
The only application that wasnrsquot
filed yet was Camilarsquos I was worried
because I didnrsquot have the way to pay
for Camiliarsquos fees to be able to adjust
her status But again a miracle
happened Camila made a Go Fund Me
account and in less than three days
members of this community and this
wonderful congregation put together
the $1850 needed to file her
paperwork In April Camilarsquos paper-
work was finally accepted by immigra-
tion and in September I received the
letter form USCIS saying that Camilarsquos
green card was approved I was crying
of happiness
All of you made this miracle
possible because of your help we are
not afraid anymore that an immigration
officer is going to knock on our door
and try to take our family from this
country
Because of your help our family now
can dream of a better life in this
wonderful country
I want to thank you for advocating
for my family to stay in the United
States
Until now we were only Americans
in our hearts but now as a result of the
help of this church this congregation
and the Fredericksburg community our
dream is one step closer the dream of
one day to become a citizen of the
United Sates of America As a mother
from the bottom of my heart I want to
thank you for making this dream come
true
I want to thank you for being a
strong advocate of the families in need
in the City of Fredericksburg Your
support makes a difference
A Word of Thanks
The following article was presented by Andrea Ilardia
as a stewardship moment in October 2016
On Christmas Eve 2010 my friend Tammy Hancock
invited us to attend the Christmas Eve service here at
this this church On that day I had no idea of the
impact this Church was going to have on my family
Since the first day I was amazed by the way our
church was involved in the community by the
commitment of the members of the church to help eve-
ryone who was in need Helping through a diversity of
programs like the Community Dinners Micah Food
Pantry School Dressing Days and many of the other
programs that this church has to help the families in our
area who are struggling to survive Most of the time
the only food these families get are what they receive
through the Food Pantry or through the Community
Dinners Many of the kids in our area are able to have
new clothes and school supplies thanks to School
Dressing Days Many people without a home are able
to survive the winter because of the support this church
gives to the homeless winter shelter Through theses
programs our church makes a big difference in the lives
of families in need
I know this for a fact because my family is one of the
families that received help
As many of you know when I started to attend this
church I was in the middle of a battle with the
Department of Homeland Security to stay in this
country The immigration laws are very complicated I
knew that I was going to need a miracle to be able to
stay in this country I firmly believe that God had a
plan for us he put my family in the Fredericksburg
community and in this wonderful church for a reason
This congregation many members of this community
and the Fredericks burg City Schools have been helping
us since the beginning
Because of your support writing letters to immigra-
tion signing petitions contacting congressmen and
senators advocating for us helping us when I didnrsquot
have a way to provide for my family
giving us strength when I thought that
everything was lost All this unconditional
support made this miracle finally possible
In September 2015 Belenrsquos green
card was approved in January 2016
and after the help this community
gave to pay for Florsquos immigration

reach the poor in places that are under-
served and to strengthen existing min-
istries in their own presentation of the
Gospel The ministry of OSI is con-
cerned for all people those who know
Christ and those who do not
Clinics used to be held in a number
of Garbage Dumps as well as
Community Centers and churches
Since all the Garbage Dumps have
been closed in Mexico City the focus
has shifted to partnering with churches
for 2 to 3 day clinics This has been a
great benefit to neighborhoods in get-
ting to know the church its members
and ministries as well as providing
health care The churches are telling
of growth in numbers and changed
lives due to the presence of the clinics
Please pray for health safety in
travel unity among team members and
positive experiences with the people

fees her green card was approved too
The first week of January 2016 after
two years of fighting for my case and
fighting a deportation order my green
card was approved
The only application that wasnrsquot
filed yet was Camilarsquos I was worried
because I didnrsquot have the way to pay
for Camiliarsquos fees to be able to adjust
her status But again a miracle
happened Camila made a Go Fund Me
account and in less than three days
members of this community and this
wonderful congregation put together
the $1850 needed to file her
paperwork In April Camilarsquos paper-
work was finally accepted by immigra-
tion and in September I received the
letter form USCIS saying that Camilarsquos
green card was approved I was crying
of happiness
All of you made this miracle
possible because of your help we are
not afraid anymore that an immigration
officer is going to knock on our door
and try to take our family from this
country
Because of your help our family now
can dream of a better life in this
wonderful country
I want to thank you for advocating
for my family to stay in the United
States
Until now we were only Americans
in our hearts but now as a result of the
help of this church this congregation
and the Fredericksburg community our
dream is one step closer the dream of
one day to become a citizen of the
United Sates of America As a mother
from the bottom of my heart I want to
thank you for making this dream come
true
I want to thank you for being a
strong advocate of the families in need
in the City of Fredericksburg Your
support makes a difference
A Word of Thanks
The following article was presented by Andrea Ilardia
as a stewardship moment in October 2016
On Christmas Eve 2010 my friend Tammy Hancock
invited us to attend the Christmas Eve service here at
this this church On that day I had no idea of the
impact this Church was going to have on my family
Since the first day I was amazed by the way our
church was involved in the community by the
commitment of the members of the church to help eve-
ryone who was in need Helping through a diversity of
programs like the Community Dinners Micah Food
Pantry School Dressing Days and many of the other
programs that this church has to help the families in our
area who are struggling to survive Most of the time
the only food these families get are what they receive
through the Food Pantry or through the Community
Dinners Many of the kids in our area are able to have
new clothes and school supplies thanks to School
Dressing Days Many people without a home are able
to survive the winter because of the support this church
gives to the homeless winter shelter Through theses
programs our church makes a big difference in the lives
of families in need
I know this for a fact because my family is one of the
families that received help
As many of you know when I started to attend this
church I was in the middle of a battle with the
Department of Homeland Security to stay in this
country The immigration laws are very complicated I
knew that I was going to need a miracle to be able to
stay in this country I firmly believe that God had a
plan for us he put my family in the Fredericksburg
community and in this wonderful church for a reason
This congregation many members of this community
and the Fredericks burg City Schools have been helping
us since the beginning
Because of your support writing letters to immigra-
tion signing petitions contacting congressmen and
senators advocating for us helping us when I didnrsquot
have a way to provide for my family
giving us strength when I thought that
everything was lost All this unconditional
support made this miracle finally possible
In September 2015 Belenrsquos green
card was approved in January 2016
and after the help this community
gave to pay for Florsquos immigration

The Christmas Joy Offering celebrates
the coming of Jesus Christ the ldquowondrous
giftrdquo of God with us Jesus arrived in a
humble stable in small insignificant
Bethlehem to lead and teach in truth and
love and bring about Godrsquos salvation to
the world What a wondrous gift indeed
This was a gift so profound that the only
response was the bringing of more gifts
The Magi arrived with gold frankincense
and myrrh to honor the Christ child
Devoted and caring leaders have led
many of us in the way of Christ They
have been church workers equipping us to
respond to the grace we have known in
Jesus Christ and they have been Godrsquos
gifts among us As we celebrate Christrsquos
coming and think of the profound impact
these individuals have had on us the
Christmas Joy Offering provides a way for
us to offer a gift in response Gifts to the
Christmas Joy Offering will raise up
leaders from small places that are too
often overlooked by the church The
historically Presbyterian racial ethnic
schools were founded to educate emerging
leaders from underrepresented groups so
leadership in the church would better
reflect the diversity of Godrsquos people
Half of the Christmas Joy Offering
supports the continued ministry of
educating and forming Christian leaders
The other half of the Offering honors
those leaders who serve and have served
us well Through the Assistance Program
of the Board of Pensions current and
retired church workers who experience
need because of tragedy health concerns
or financial hardship can receive
assistance from the church they have
served so well
In gratitude to God for the wondrous
gift of Jesus the Presbyterian Church
(USA) invites congregations to join this
celebration of Godrsquos presence with us by
supporting those in need of help and hope
Our church will observe the Christmas Joy
Offering through the season of Advent
You will find special envelopes in the
pews and in your offering envelope box
Please be in prayer for this offering

A Word of Thanks
The following article was presented by Andrea Ilardia
as a stewardship moment in October 2016
On Christmas Eve 2010 my friend Tammy Hancock
invited us to attend the Christmas Eve service here at

impact this Church was going to have on my family
As many of you know when I started to attend this

giving us strength when I thought that
everything was lost All this unconditional
support made this miracle finally possible

Service of Remembrance
December 7 ~ 1215 pm The holiday season can be a difficult and painful time for
many whether they are dealing with the death of a loved
one facing life after a divorce or separation coping with
the loss of a job or experiencing failing health Sacred
spaces can be very helpful for those who find themselves
in periods of darkness
A Service of Remembrance will be offered on Wednesday
December 7 at 1215 pm in the Sanctuary Join us for this
time of worship and reflection as we acknowledge and face
the losses present both in the world and in our own lives
while seeking the Light of God for hope comfort and help

The Christmas Joy Offering celebrates
the coming of Jesus Christ the ldquowondrous
giftrdquo of God with us Jesus arrived in a
humble stable in small insignificant
Bethlehem to lead and teach in truth and
love and bring about Godrsquos salvation to
the world What a wondrous gift indeed
This was a gift so profound that the only
response was the bringing of more gifts
The Magi arrived with gold frankincense
and myrrh to honor the Christ child
Devoted and caring leaders have led
many of us in the way of Christ They
have been church workers equipping us to
respond to the grace we have known in
Jesus Christ and they have been Godrsquos
gifts among us As we celebrate Christrsquos
coming and think of the profound impact
these individuals have had on us the
Christmas Joy Offering provides a way for
us to offer a gift in response Gifts to the
Christmas Joy Offering will raise up
leaders from small places that are too
often overlooked by the church The
historically Presbyterian racial ethnic
schools were founded to educate emerging
leaders from underrepresented groups so
leadership in the church would better
reflect the diversity of Godrsquos people
Half of the Christmas Joy Offering
supports the continued ministry of
educating and forming Christian leaders
The other half of the Offering honors
those leaders who serve and have served
us well Through the Assistance Program
of the Board of Pensions current and
retired church workers who experience
need because of tragedy health concerns
or financial hardship can receive
assistance from the church they have
served so well
In gratitude to God for the wondrous
gift of Jesus the Presbyterian Church
(USA) invites congregations to join this
celebration of Godrsquos presence with us by
supporting those in need of help and hope
Our church will observe the Christmas Joy
Offering through the season of Advent
You will find special envelopes in the
pews and in your offering envelope box
Please be in prayer for this offering
(Article from PC(USA) promotion guide
for the Christmas Joy Offering)

mobilizing concerned Christians to
reach the poor in places that are under-
served and to strengthen existing min-
istries in their own presentation of the
Gospel The ministry of OSI is con-
cerned for all people those who know
Christ and those who do not
Clinics used to be held in a number
of Garbage Dumps as well as
Community Centers and churches
Since all the Garbage Dumps have
been closed in Mexico City the focus
has shifted to partnering with churches
for 2 to 3 day clinics This has been a
great benefit to neighborhoods in get-
ting to know the church its members
and ministries as well as providing
health care The churches are telling
of growth in numbers and changed
lives due to the presence of the clinics
Please pray for health safety in
travel unity among team members and
positive experiences with the people

I want to thank you for being a
strong advocate of the families in need

support makes a difference
In September 2015 Belenrsquos green
card was approved in January 2016
and after the help this community
gave to pay for Florsquos immigration

from the bottom of my heart I want to
thank you for making this dream come
