Mr. Ned VonBeachum

Mr. Ned Von Beachum,84, passed away peacefullyon June 12, 2019, at Hos-pice of Union County inMonroe. Funeral services wereheld on Tuesday, June 18,2019, at Hopewell UnitedMethodist Church inPeachland. Interment fol-lowed in the church ceme-tery. Mr. Beachum was bornFebruary 27, 1935, inPeachland to Jerry Thomas(Bub) Beachum and LauraOna Griffin Beachum. Hehad celebrated 59 years ofmarriage to Doris JeanAdams Beachum. Mr. Beachum was a USArmy veteran, stationed inKorea serving in the com-munication division. Uponcompleting his militaryservice he married, settledinto family life and began acareer in retail sales. Mr.Beachum’s warm and wel-coming personality andready smile helped himbuild a long and success-ful career with Sears,first working in Wades-boro before moving tothe Monroe store andeventually taking hissalesmanship skills tothe South Park Mall andEastland Mall locations.As an Installed HomeImprovements Sales-man, Mr. Beachum waswell versed in a broadrange of items from ap-pliances and carpetingto fencing and roofing.He was consistently rec-ognized by Sears as anexceptional salesman. Retiring from Searsin 1992, Mr. Beachumnext pursued a secondbusiness path in the pre-owned car trade. Forseveral years he couldbe found at the car loton Concord Avenue inMonroe. After relocat-ing with his wife fromMonroe to Marshville,his interest switchedfrom cars to golf carts.Mr. Beachum providedmany customized golf

carts to those in need of apleasant ride around theirhome property or fromtheir beach house to theshore or around theirneighborhoods. Friendsoften dropped by the shopto chat as he tinkered on acart. A favorite golf cart ortwo were frequently seen inthe Marshville ChristmasParade or in line at thedrive-thru of the localWendy’s. Mr. Beachum was ap-

pointed to and elected tothe Marshville Town Coun-cil, and served severalterms in office. In additionto community service, hewas active in the churcheshe attended assisting inmany projects, participat-ing in church groups andclasses and teaching Sun-day school. Mr. Beachumformed long lasting friend-ships with colleaguesthrough each of his variedcareers and civic andchurch activities. Surviving are his wifeDoris, two sisters: RebeccaBeachum Bullard and Ra-mona Beachum Miller(Bill); children: Darrel andDarlene (Helms) Beachumand Kim and Jeff Robert-son; grandchildren: Adamand Hannah (Wood)Beachum, Alexis andPatrick Leasure, KateRobertson, AustinBeachum and Gabby Her-rick and Ava Beachum;great-grandchildren: Kay-den, Atlas and XanderBeachum and Ellie Leasureon the way; niece CrystalThomas Metz (Clark) andchildren Will and Charlotte;

and nephew Trey Miller.
