To create an opportunity for:
* A creative and constructive, fun and interesting
gathering
* Learning about another language and culture
* Understanding others and ourselves better
Kempsey High is forming an afternoon group
When and where:
Convened by Mr Shannon, it will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30pm
until 5pm during school terms. (Starting Thursday 21st February, 2013. Week 4)
We will meet at the KHS library. A small afternoon tea will be provided. Bus transport
along the Armidale Road to Bellbrook is available on Tuesdays and to Collombatti,
Frederickton and Clybucca on Thursdays.
How:
Using an online language learning community, internet resources and other media
(including a workbook commissioned for KHS), we will help each other to learn to read,
write and speak Japanese, and understand the language as an extension of a society.
What:
We will learn about food, religion, temporal customs, theatre, art and literature in small
doses depending on the interests of the group members. We will aim to share and en-
joy the experience. We also aim to create relationships with Japanese people especially
at our sister school, Matsushige Junior High School on Shikoku Island.
You will need: earphones with a microphone, patience and good humour.
Who?
This opportunity is available to all students in the schools of the Macleay Educational
Community of Schools who wish to take part in and contribute to its success. It will be
maintained as a safe positive environment.

2013 Begins
The long wait to start high school finally came to an end with the school holidays last Wednesday when a new group of Year 7 students started their high school career. It was all systems go after the morning assembly as the new year 7 stu-dents commenced with Years 11 and 12. Students in other years started on Thurs-day. There was a steady sale of book packs at the canteen (see picture above). We are looking for volunteers to help in the canteen and the supervisor Leanne Westerman will be happy to receive inquiries on 6562 4811.
Year 7 Camp date and venue change
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Year 7 camp has been changed and will no longer be at the Great Aussie Bush Camp during week 8. The new Year 7 camp will be held at Coffs Harbour Beach School and will take place on the 13th and 14th of March (week 7). The cost of this camp will be $110. Any students who have already made payments that have exceeded this amount will be refunded. New permission notes will be handed out to the students later this week. If any student loses or misplaces their note spares will able available from the front
office and can also be accessed from the school website.
I encourage all of Year 7 to attend this camp as it will be a valuable experience and a great opportunity to develop team building skills and positive relationships with peers and teachers.

Year 7 Advisor
