How I drew the images for my video

When I first start creating an image for my video, I have to first find a similar image from a film or TV show that I can trace from. For example, I am currently drawing a picture of one of my characters after they get shot. I wanted an image of a female lying down and I chose a scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I was able to find this scene on Youtube here.

I first took a screenshot of the scene and saved it before placing it into Photoshop.

I then unlocked the image as the background, allowing me to use the layer freely.

Once I had done this, I added a new layer and painted it white using the brush tool. I did this to create the white background for my drawing.

Once I had created the white background, I added another layer which will be used to draw the outline and features on. I then moved the white background layer to the back as I needed to see the original image to trace it.

I then turned down the opacity on the layer so I could better see the tool I would be tracing with.

I then changed the colour ink for the brush tool by using the colour chart on the right of the screen and began tracing.

I then drew until I was left with this.

I then removed the original image layer, this is where the white background comes in.

I am very happy with the drawing, however, in this scene, this character has just been shot so I wanted to add some blood. I decided to do this by using the brush tool and the colour chart on the right. As the character was shot in the head, I focused most of the blood splatter around her face.

Once I had painted this, I chose a darker red shade and drew over almost all of the red I had just done. I repeated this technique multiple times with darker shades of red in small areas to create a realistic image.

Once I was happy with this, I decided to focus a darker spot on the bullet hole itself.

Finally, I moved to adding the blood to other parts of her face and body.

And this is the finished product.
