We, the Washington Latino Washington Latino CommunityCommunity, make up 9% of Washington’s populationpopulation

Making us the fastest fastest growinggrowing minority population group

But in our state, we faceBut in our state, we face manymany challenges…challenges…

45% of our children have

2 or more risk factors that jeopardize their success in school

65% of our

children are

not in

preschool

1 of 5 of our youths is led into the juvenile justice system

50% don’t

graduate from

high school

Only 3% of our businesses

are Latino- owned

1 out of 800 nonprofits are

managed by Latinos

…60% of these report $0 income

By inspiring 80 Latino

students from ninenine different high schools in the

Yakima Valley to set

goalsgoals beyond high school.

By developing Latina

entrepreneurs to become self-sufficient. Through

training, communal network, and mentor-like steps in starting their

businesses.

By helping 200 Latino high school

students from around the

State to enroll in college.

Through leadership and network, students are strengthening their commitments to completing a college degree.

By preventing 100 Latino youth from being recruited and

initiated into gangs through positive social activities.

Lower the Latino student

dropout rates and increasing post-secondary enrollment, particularly in high need professions
