what EVEry tExan shoulD know aBout ProP 6 and investing in our State Water Plan:

1. Texas grows by approximately 1200 people every day, and our state’s population is projected to nearly double by 2060.

2. Texas’ current water supplies cannot support that growth. Prop 6 will help ensure that our state’s growing cities, industry and farms have the water they need for the next 50 years.

3. The funds being invested by Prop 6 will provide low-interest loans for water supply projects. Prop 6 does not provide grants – these are loans that must be repaid to the state.

4. The recipients of these loans will be limited to political subdivisions of the state, such as our growing towns and cities, to help them implement critical water supply projects, including water conservation strategies.

5. The funds approved by Prop 6 will be loaned from constitutionally-dedicated accounts, which means that the funds can only be used for water supply projects included in our State Water Plan.

6. Prop 6 will not raise taxes on Texans or Texas businesses.
