FAMILY OF PARISHES NEWS UPDATE
Feast of the Most Holy Trinity: What do
Catholics believe about the Trinity?
The Trinity is a mystery that is rich, deep and wondrous.
Saints, poets and artists have exhausted countless efforts
to explain and illustrate the Trinity. God, who has been
pondered since creation, is beyond our human
understanding. The more we explore who God is, the
more we value His presence.
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity is
a dogma of our faith, known as an
unchangeable truth. It is so important
within our faith tradition that we acclaim
our belief in the Trinity whenever we
begin or end anything we do. Baptism
immerses us into God’s life – in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Throughout our lives, our prayers begin and end with this
statement of faith, and when our lives are over, we are
ushered into the presence of the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit.
There are some things we know for certain about God.
He is both eternal and dependable. As He proclaimed to
Moses – “the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to
anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
We know that He sent His Son to suffer, die and rise
again so that we could be saved. With certainty, we know
that His Spirit guides, leads and directs the Church in the
ways of truth and justice. We have experienced God as a
Father, creator of all things visible and invisible. We
have encountered God in His Son Jesus who teaches us
how to live. And we know and have experienced that the
Spirit of God is with us.
COVID-19 Update: Bishop Fabbro and the Episcopal Council have been meeting once a
week since the beginning of the pandemic. Under the guidelines of the Premier of Ontario and the
Minister of Health, our policies have been communicated on the home page of the Diocese of
London website. Regular updates are available - a link is attached to the bulletin regarding the
pandemic. Though some parishes are publishing what they believe will be guidelines for the return to the celebration
of Eucharist, no official instructions have been provided. The Association of the Catholic Bishops of Ontario is
working on a document that will be discussed by the Episcopal Council and a diocesan committee will work on
practical guidelines for the reopening of the churches in the Diocese of London. Stay tuned!

FAMILY OF PARISHES NEWS UPDATE
From Maintenance to Mission: For generations,
Catholics have maintained their parishes and have safe-
guarded their traditions. We have always focused on the
care of the people who regularly attend and the buildings
entrusted to us by our ancestors. In the world today, the
cry is to become a mission oriented church, the
foundation of the “Family of Parishes” model that we are
now living. This means focusing on and reaching out to
the people who do not attend.
Learning to be a disciple
requires a personal
relationship with the Lord.
Prayer is essential to all who
seek to know and love Jesus
with an intimacy of heart.
Important to our relationship with Jesus is knowledge of
His Church, of the Sacraments and of the teachings that
are held sacred by believers. Education of faith does not
end with Confirmation or with graduation from a
Catholic School. Education is a life-long process that is
necessary for our mission which is to evangelize. All of
the baptized are called to evangelize, to share the Good
News of Jesus with others in a personal way. We cannot
share what we do not have! When people are
evangelized, their hearts are changed. In coming to know
and love Jesus and His Church, they volunteer, join small
faith-based groups and study the Bible. They become the
Church! This is evangelization; to share our belief in
Jesus, our love for Him and the Church.
Social Media/Tech Team: These are unprecedented
times which call for new creative ways of being and
connecting to people! We are still being called to reach
out to people and fulfill the mission of the Church! This
is a time of uncertainty without a doubt but also a time of
unexpected opportunities! We are looking for innovative
“out of the box” thinkers who are gifted in regards to
online social media venues and are willing to brainstorm
ways to help us navigate the new norms! If you, or
someone you know, has some time and the know how,
please contact Rebecca at the parish office 519-734-8044
or by email at rebeccasbondy@gmail.com. Your gifts are
of utmost importance! Donations of Tools: The custodian at
St. Joseph Church is looking for
donations of power tools, hand tools and
wood working tools in good working
condition for the church workshop for
parish projects. Please contact the office
to arrange a drop off time.
Children’s Corner: Every week,
Catholic Kids Media presents a cartoon
based on the readings and Gospel for the
weekend. Visit our website to find more
videos for your children. For this
weekend’s cartoon click here.
