Weathering Vocabulary

• Chemical Weathering - the erosion or disintegration of rocks, building materials, etc., caused by chemical reactions 

• Dissolve - become or cause to become incorporated into a liquid so as to form a solution.

• Physical Weathering - breaking down of the earth's surface through the process of natural or physical means

• Negative – harmful or bad• Sediments - Solid fragments of inorganic or

organic material that come from the weathering of rock and are carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice.

• Gravity - the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth
