The Royal Air Force
The Brylcreem boys
Formed in 1918 by amalgamating the Royal Naval Air Reserve and the Royal
Flying Corps
President Steve Williams Web-Site: www.lfhhs.org.uk Reg. Charity No. 513437
The RAF nearly did not come into being because the hierarchy at the War
Office did not think that aeroplanes would be much used after the war!
During World War II planes were used extensively to bomb battleships, submarines, towns and military targets
They were also used to drop parachutists behind enemy lines or in large
numbers for armed assaults
