KEPS Buddy Reading
Dear Parents and Caregivers, Some lovely photos of KEPS students enjoying Buddy Reading last week. Every Friday, students from the older classes partner up with their buddies to read picture books from the Premiers Reading collection. With the support of Longneck Lagoon EEC the Stage 2 students have received a $1500- Biodiversity Grant to be spent on revitalizing 4 of our garden beds with a biodiversity focus. Students are busy with ideas and suggestions for this project. They have created maps and are working on lists of items and plants needed to create these spaces. On Friday the whole school was invited to watch 4/5/6 launch the rockets they have been making in class, with the help of Mrs Watson. All the teachers and students really enjoyed the excitement of seeing how far the rocket could go and whose could go the furthest. Please see below for some reports on the event by 4/5/6/ students. The Premier’s Reading Challenge has finished for 2020. Congratulations to the 20 students who completed this challenge. To all the Dads in our community we wish you all a happy Father’s Day for this Sunday. We hope that your children spoil you rotten over the whole weekend.
Talent Show On Tuesday 15th September KEPS students will be showcasing their chosen talent in front of their classmates. Please make sure your child brings any equipment they need for their performance. Unfortunately, due to COVID parents and family will not be allowed to attend. Staff will take many photos of the event and make them available, details to be advised.
Reminders
• School bubblers remain closed. This is due to Covid. Please send your child to school with a decent amount of water to drink particularly as the weather is getting warmer. Staff are filling up water bottles from the staff room and will continue to do so but many students are still coming to school without even a bottle to fill up. From next week any child who doesn’t have a water bottle will need to pay $1 for each bottle of water given out to them. We will send a slip home with the child to let you know.
• No birthday cakes at this time. Alternative options could be mini chocolate bars or chip packets that are individually wrapped.
• NO sharing of food A reminder that students need to eat only the food provided by their parents. Please do not share food.
• Stage 2 and Stage 3 camps remain on hold at this time.
• Kindergarten Orientation remains on hold at this time.
Student departures in the afternoon Parents thank you for your help and support in this area. Parents keep ringing the school if you are changing the arrangements of how your child is getting home of an afternoon, particularly about whether they are catching the bus or going into OOSH of an afternoon.
School Visitors/ Helpers May I please remind you that in our current situation adults are to still minimise their contact at school. If you do come into the school grounds it is mandatory for all visitors to our school to sign IN and OUT of the front office during the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm. This is a WHS regulation and necessary for Child Protection reasons. It is crucial that office staff are aware of who is on school grounds during school hours.
School Holidays Friday, 25th September is the last day for Term 3. Students and staff return for Term 4 on Monday 12th October. Have a safe and relaxing break ready for another busy term.

4/5/6 Stomp Rocket Project
The rocket launch was great. 4/5/6 made a rocket each, and the whole school came to a competition for the rockets. Each class made one rocket with the help of 4/5/6 members. The rocket launch was held underneath the cola at around 2:30 on the 28/8/2020. The rockets we used we made out of paper, cotton and sticky tape. The furthest rocket was 2/3 with 33.85m. By Imagin & Hayley
The rocket launch was great and 2/3 won with 33.85m, Eliza and Myah came second with 32m. Each class had their own rocket but 4/5/6 had one for each science group. It was a fun way to end the day and everyone had so much fun! By Georgia
