Transition ProcessThe Transition to Kindergarten process for 2009-
2010 school year is as follows:1. Parents are invited to attend a “Parent
Information Night” about the transition to Kindergarten.
2. Parents sign up to visit their home school in small groups hosted by TUSD staff. Possible programs for visits include their home elementary school Kindergarten, Learning Center and STEPS program in their geographical area.
3. Parents share their thoughts and impressions regarding their visits with their child’s teacher.
4. A list of all graduating students and their home schools will be sent to the LAUNCH Program Specialist and Elementary Program Specialists.
5. LAUNCH invites the elementary school staff to visit and observe the students in their attendance area.
6. Parents are encouraged to sign up for Kindergarten Roundup at their home school which will take place April 17th - April 30th.
7. Kindergarten transition meetings are held June 7th-June 11th for all graduating students with IEPs.
8. Parents must enroll their child at their home school.
9. Student’s site files are delivered to the receiving elementary schools in September.
